I Forced Myself to Learn Blender - 100 Hour Progress

Don't learn Blender. It will consume your life. I spent so much time learning to 3d model and animate in Blender. I have always wanted to perform and act in my live streams, and after watching Dr. Disrespect perform in his Blender scenes, I knew I had to learn. So let me know, was it worth it for me to learn Blender? Should I keep making blender scenes as a beginner?

"Hour 50: I realized all my stuff was garbage" - "Hour 97: disaster" -- this proves your story is true. Congratulations -- your end scene came out great !! I've been at it for 2 years now on weekends, and nowhere near that.

I literally watched this video, downloaded Blender and spent 3 hours learning the basics. Now I want to make a Blender background of whatever comes out of my imagination. thank you so much for the motivation!

This is amazing I didn’t realize you were going to insert yourself into the scene as a stream overlay! That’s awesome

6:00 in and it hurts me to hear that nobody in any of those threads told you that you can recover lost files by going: file>External Data>Find Missing Files and selecting the folder where your textures were stored. Also, a psa to make it so you can move your files without corrupting everything: File>External Data> Automatically Pack Resources. This way any texture files you add will be saved as a copy in the data of your .blend file.

This is amazing - I think you may have just created a learning and productivity hack.
Do a 100h project - try reach the deadline and if you like it - keep learning - if you don't - move along to the next thing.

Good progress. FYI, if your camera is static with just a few moving elements, you can save a bunch of time by learning about render layers and compositing.

If that was done completely without no prior knowledge of Blender then that was very nice and yes, you should definitely continue developing your skills in Blender.
Nice job!

I finished the donut tutorial and felt great, took a few weeks off to work on 2D animation stuff, and forgot 90% of the 3D stuff lol. Time to make a new donut. This was so cool to see. Glad you were able to get the textures working again.

The finished product was pretty cool, and "Bad Apple" fit surprisingly well with the scene. Seems like gaining the skills is worth it in the long run.

Nice Job!

Blender tip for saving files:
Open up Blender, go to file, and then external data. There you can click on automatically pack resources. This will save all of textures and other exteral data in the project file, making reorganizing your files a lot easier.

I have nearly a thousand hours in blender and I’m going to say you’re amazing. You picked up so much so quickly that usually takes people so much longer to. The final result was great and you could really see the detail, especially in the computer. Good luck in your journey

As someone who's been modelling and texturing for well over 10 years, this is quite a phenomenal progression in just 100 hours. You should feel very proud of yourself :)

As a tip though, if getting further into 3D is something you want to do, it would pay you early on to switch Blender's navigation style to "maya" in the user preferences. This is because that's what nearly every other piece of software uses as it's standard navigation. And since you might want to get into advanced texturing with Substance, advanced rendering with Marmoset or advanced cloth creation with Marvelous Designer, breaking the muscle memory early on it much easier than trying to do it after months or years of getting used to it (first hand experience there).

Top work!

You got soooo much further than i did in 6 hours. I am still stumped on making basic things happen... I learned on my own that if you duplicate an object outside of object mode, it doesn't appear in my menu to the right... and it messed with me for awhile because I needed to do something specific with those duplicated objects so... yeah :(

But man it's cool to see this. Incredible to see someone so dedicated. Very excited for you!!

Edit: What a creative way to stream!! Wow!!
