When buying a used boat, one of the most important things to know is where it came from and how it was cared for. There are huge differences between owners and the environment the boat was used and kept in. We have taken a number of boats that were used in saltwater over the years. Shoppers often ask us "should I buy a saltwater boat". In this video, we cover:

0:00 - Intro
0:28 - Saltwater boat issues
1:33 - Maintenance and repair costs are higher
2:13 - Buying a saltwater boat
3:03 - Identifying a saltwater boat

Although we’d all expect a bit of rust, had no idea so much would rust on saltwater boats. Great info in this one. 🇨🇦👍🏼

I bought a Sea-Doo jet boat from Florida and everything on the boat has been fine. The trouble I had was with the trailer it actually rusted out the frame ended up having to buy a brand new trailer for the boat. Here in Wisconsin it’s all freshwater for us so far it worked out.

Looking to buy a 2019 Chris craft launch 27 with 8.2 merc with 23 hours. Shouldn’t that be low enough hours to not let the salt get to it.

I'm a saltwater boater and well aware of the constant maintenance battles against corrosion. That said, if I was buying a boat for freshwater use, I wouldn't even consider a boat that was previously operated in saltwater. It's simply not worth the headaches!
