Even though someone else has done it, she came up with it on her own, and it is still so creative. It is absolutely beautiful and not really difficult. It is something you could easily make to impress guests. I can't imagine how delicious it is.

Small tip. Pour in a quarter to a third of the custard after getting the base layer of filo in the pan and add the remaining filo and then the apples into that base layer of custard. proceed the rest of the way as instructed. A bit of custard poured early helps to secure the layers and makes the dessert easier to serve without the slices falling apart.

That's much better than the one I do with puff pastry. Adding the apple slices at the end rather than laying on the pastry strips and then rolling and arranging is much better, thanks 💜🇦🇺

Well sweets or food (pita) with filo, are nice when they are crunchy. I would never use custard over filo. You can make a great sweet when you prepare a cream with milk and put it in between filos. It's called galaktoboureko and it's top! You can make very easy sweets with just filo, butter, cinnamon and non salted bits of peanuts in layers, cook it in the oven 175 C and add home made syrup (classic baklava) or instead can use almonds or/and bitter chocolate chips. You can also use it to make pies (like spinach pie, spanakopita, or cheesepie, tiropita), and even fold a piece of feta cheese by filo, fry it in a pan with oil in medium temp. Serve it like this, or add a bit of honey. It's delicious and ready in 5 minutes.
