Oh Al Bundy, what a great guy! Not to be confused with Ted Bundy, of course! We don’t endorse that kind of stuff around here. Or maybe he does have something in common with Ted…. Do you remember this scene from Married With Children ?

ZINGER! While many people assume that the crass Bundy family was named after the notorious serial killer Ted Bundy, this simply isn’t true. The Bundy family was actually named after the famous wrestler King Kong Bundy! And somehow that makes even more sense.

Ole “down-on-his-luck” Al Bundy was someone that many dads related to in the eighties and nineties. The Bundy clan was dysfunctional to say the least… Al’s wife was lazy, his son had some attention problems, and his daughter, well, she was pretty wild. Al Bundy wasn’t the perfect father like many of his other television counterparts. Married with Children didn’t push a lesson that had to be learned every week - rather this show was funny, relatable.. something that was drastically missing from other utopia families on the screen every night.

I’m your host – Nostalgic Nick and I never want to be as miserable as Al Bundy was in his life. But Ed O’Neill - the man who played Al Bundy - had a pretty great life. All in the Family was the king in the seventies, but Married with Children ruled the late eighties and early nineties. Their secret was there was no political correctness everyone including themselves was fair game. Today's youngsters will never understand or enjoy that freedom. My 21 year old son just gawks at it unbelieving

Al Bundy will forever and Eternity be the number one dad. I kind of marry his counterpart life is always interesting. But unlike Peggy I actually cook for mine. I'll probably never get to hear from Mr O'Neill, but I thank him for the greatest laugh in history

Married With Children is underrated. This show ranks up there with All In The Family because it changed television. All In The Family was the first successful show that was controversial and really pushed boundaries in its day by tackling topics that just weren’t talked about on TV at the time. Married With Children was also a show that pushed boundaries that allowed other shows to be raunchy. I also consider Fox the network that Al Bundy built. Both Archie Bunker and Al Bundy are the two most iconic television characters in history. I was little when All In The Family was on but watched it every week. I just graduated high school when Married With Children came out. Watched it religiously. Kelly Bundy (Christina Applegate) was and still is one of the hottest actresses. I personally liked the earlier episodes with Steve Rhodes than after he left. Even though I own the entire box set on DVD, I will still stop and watch if I find it on TV.

My favorites : All Bundy as the Godfather and Al Bundy and the Aliens! I loved Married with children. No politic correct nonsense. Dang, the best sitcom ever. Still hopin' for a sequel.
