The Untold Truth of Napoleon Hill - History's Most Beloved Con-Man.

Napoleon Hill is arguably the most influential business writer of the past century, he's almost single-handedly responsible for the core ideas behind the billion dollar self-help / business coaching community. He originated the idea of "masterminds", and his story, at first blush is the stuff of American legend. However under scrutiny, his convenient story looks more like the delusional ramblings of a Con-man.

this video is an opinion and in no way should be construed as statements of fact. scams, bad business opportunities, and fake gurus are subjective terms that mean different things to different people. I think someone who promises $100K/month for an upfront fee of $2K is a scam. Others would call it a Napolean Hill pitch.

To those of you who enjoyed Think and Grow Rich, and this is unwelcome news... Understand that you can enjoy the book and get something out of it the bits about “positive thinking and goal setting”, without following in Hill’s footsteps.

Being aware of the limitations of the book is important. The man was a documented con-man during his life. This is a fact. He was also broke most of his life and plagued by his actions. This is also a fact. But you still can know all of those things and take something away from his book positively. 🤔 Thanks for watching!

You forgot to mention the part where Napoleon Hill reincarnated later on in life as Tai Lopez

If he was alive today, Napoleon Hill will be showing off his garage full of books

The best summary I ever heard of Napoleon Hills teaching is this: _"A dream written down becomes a goal. A goal broken down into steps becomes a plan. A plan backed by actions becomes reality."_

"Were you mentored by Steve Jobs?"
"I would like to say yes."

The whole of Think and Grow Rich can be summarised in one sentence: "To become rich you have to really really want to be rich"

What's funny is that Napoleon made his wealth from selling this book while he was broke

I’ve seen this book being promoted so many times. I even listened to an audio version of one chapter. I had no clue how ridiculous it is!
Thank you Coffeezilla! Keep exposing scammers

So many youtube creators ignore his past so they can teach his content. Personally, i've tried to share this knowledge but never got a reply. Thank you! Finally someone acknowledged this.

As a marketer, one of the most annoying things is getting arrested by the SEC when my writing gets too forceful.

Excellent video! I read (part of) "Think and Grow Rich" when I was 21 years old and I would say it left a positive impact. However, after getting about 20% into the book I found it to be unbearably repetitive.

In the years since then I've found that nearly every 'self help' book that people recommend is simply a rehash or modern adaptation of T&GR. I've long since stopped read self-help books, preferring academic books on history and economics, finding them to be far more helpful.

Do Robert Kiyosaki and his imaginary Rich Dad next! :)

This is exactly true for Rich Dad Poor Dad as well. Robert Kiyosaki has indirectly admitted that his rich dad and his poor dad were hypothetical characters when people found no evidence of his Rich dad being real. Kiyosaki also declared bankruptcy multiple times in his life . He has also sold a lot of "fake guru" - type real estate courses. That being said, a lot of things in his book are absolute gold. Especially about cashflows, assets, leverage and so on

What really irks me is how self-help gurus promote courses/programs then urge their followers to "do whatever it takes" to sign up, even if it means maxing out all their credit. Absolutely irresponsible!

Unfortunately the world seems to not understand that positive thinking and day dreaming is just the small part compared to the luck, hard work, talent and knowing the right people part.
