Great video. I took way too much zinc for a long time and it lowered my copper an iron. I paid for a vitamin test that showed my ferritin was 25 ug/ml but other iron levels were "normal". Started taking copper and 20mg heme iron and it went up to 46 in 5 weeks. Need to probably get to 100. I was so fatigued, depressed, trouble staying asleep, but am slowly improving.

I want to cry watching this. This exact thing just happened at my doctors appointment today. Since I couldn’t get into my doctor for a month I went and ordered my own lab work from quest. My results were
Ferritin - 9 (low)
Iron, total - 48
Iron Binding capacity - 376
Saturation - 13

I showed my dr the results. He said im not far off normal range. I’m like are you serious?! Even on the lab results it says low ferritin, saturation and lower end total iron. He told me I can take iron and re test my lab results but even if they are the same he didn’t recommend changing anything. He said a year ago my total iron was double what it is now. I am switching doctors immediately, because obviously he doesn’t even care. Thank you for spreading awareness on ferritin levels!

Wow, that’s mind blowing. I’ve been seeing doctors for the last two years trying to figure out what’s wrong with me. From pre menopause to thyroid dia function, nothing is coming as out of range, this morning a kind young doctor looked at all my previous blood test, my failed attempt with hrt, and he said out of everything my iron levels were looking normal but not optimal and reordered another test, he said my levels were at 31 last year and the optimal for a woman should be at 70… that explains a lot, finally someone took the time to look at my tests, why are doctors so dismissive? I’ve been in and out of their office and only now someone thought of this? 😢

It is so refreshing to see doctors that actually know about this because at a ferritin of 4, i was told that I was totally fine and that I was just experiencing anxiety and I was offered anti-depressant medication which I did not take... My hemoglobin was 9 and they sent me on my merry way... I have been taking high doses of iron since February it is now November and my ferritin is still only 36 and my anxiety is still present, a bit better, but pain and rls keep bringing it up.. Looking at my labs i noticed that my anxiety started to happen exactly when my ferritin dropped but my doctor doesn't believe that there is any correlation, I have had dizziness, hair loss, fatigue, fatigue, body aches, cold hands and feet, restless legs/arms, and so much more but my doctor refuses to get me infusions... Do you have any advice on getting infusions please?? Do you have any advice on have any advice on getting insurance to cover infusions Please? I would love to get your opinion please on what I can do, If you have the time please

Right now my ferritin is 29, so I just started iron supplements. I also know that my levels have been as 70 and I had the same symptoms. I also have Hashimotos and have had low B12, folate and vitamin D. These are now optimal. I believe my ferritin should be at least 100. That's what I'm trying to acheive.

I’m feeling awful at the minute, my mind is playing tricks on me, I feel so low intrusive thoughts are horrendous, I’m beyond tired my menstrual cycle is also due and my results came back as “no further action required” my serum iron level is 21 I feel absolutely awful, so I presume this is why I’m feeling this way?

Idk if I am low because everyone goes by different units I think ? But I have almost all the low iron symptoms.

Iron 17 umol/L
Iron binding 53 umol/l
Iron saturation 32%
Ferritin 134 ug/l

B12 445 pmol/l

These were taken 5 months ago and I have a very heavy cycle, so they could be lower than this now!

Oh My God, I'm so grateful to have found this video. My 'bottom' for feeling like crap is apparently still within 'normal' limits for my insurance company to pay for so I had to dig and fight and scratch like a junkyard dog last time to get an infusion. I had gastric bypass years ago and chronic anemia before that. I'm going to try your iron because I feel like crap again. I've been dreading going to have it checked because I knew it was going to be another fight!

So what are the optimal values Doc?? No one seems to want to commit to an optimal range for ferritin?

So what is the upper limit of ferritin to avoid dying earlier?

I seem to have the opposite. I feel great, my hair's growing great, my nails are indicating I probably have a vitamin deficiency, but if I had to guess I'd say it's a B or C vitamin, I'm breastfeeding fine, got energy, no real depression, but my doctor says my labs show low iron (although she hasn't told me the numbers) and is concerned because my son seems a little small for 14 months. But he's got TONS of energy and his mental development seems right on track, and my husband and I were both tiny children. 🤷

Hello, I've got a question. My ferritin is 48 and b12 is 290. I'm up to buying a good b12 supplement soon. But could my symptoms like depression and tiredness also be from iron? My thyorid TSh is also a bit high and i have hashimoto but the doctor don't want to give me thyroxin yet bc the hormones are normal
