Why I Train for Longevity, Not Just Aesthetics

Hey guys!

It’s been a while since I posted, and I wanted to reconnect and share a bit about what I do and why I do it. I’m Steph Rose—co-founder of Phase SiX and The Content Dojo—and I hope to inspire people to step out of their comfort zone, move with intention, master their form, and build real, lasting strength!

My style of training blends mobility, strength, and martial arts—less about burning calories, more about refining my movement and unlocking my body’s potential with a heavy focus on long-term performance and Longevity.

I believe mobility training leads to a deeper kind of strength—not just building muscle, but strengthening your joints, improving durability, and giving you the confidence to challenge your body in new ways.

If you’re ready to train with purpose, I’m here for it.

If you’re looking to get into this type of training methodology, then I’ve got a 6-week online program, Make It Look Easy, that consists of 3 fitness levels (beginner, intermediate, and advanced). It’s pretty identical to how I trained in order to get to where I am today, with all the progressions that I used too :)

Even better, it’s now available on my app for a much more user-friendly experience! 📲

I have always been functionally strong. 2 years ago I had a catastrophic knee break and my whole world changed. Still on the road to recovery but strength for longevity has become my number one goal because of the accident.

As someone who really wants to be functional as long as possible (different for everyone) i couldn't agree more.

This is worth subscribing to. I’m over 40 and the everyday push and pull has gotten monotonous, I look forward to seeing what you bring to the forum. Much respect!

This is a very powerful video. I remember practicing some of those mobility drills for Aikido, so I know you know your stuff. I had to subscribe just to support what you're doing. And by the way, you look great all around, so you must be eating properly as well. Brava!

I'm probably not the only one, my muscles in my 50's can lift far more than my tendons can withstand. If i max out with the effort of my youth, i am ripping tendons. I had to go to PT for blowing out both my rotator cuffs. Due to higher pain thresholds of aging, i can push past the pain & do incredible damage. So i have to dial back the effort i put in to lifting to failure. It doesnt mean today what it meant at 22. I want a healthy body not a destroyed body. Nevertheless, i set a lifetime best on bench press at age 58 this month. By being much more careful in how i lift. I am proof you can be very strong in old age without being a walking catastrophe. I have pains, but they are recovery pains not tore my ligaments pain. I had to change how i approach lifting mentally to get here & stay healthy doing it.

I need something like this but for actual everyday lifestyle movements, like sitting down and reaching for my dinner cereal box.
