my personal pet peeve is whenever there's some contrived reason for a shower scene/shirtless scene, every single male character inexplicably has washboard abs... like come on. It doesn't even make sense for half of them - like, aren't you a schoolkid? or a office worker? where do you find the time to obtain and maintain abs???

My biggest pet peeve is when it’s a love triangle but two of the characters are the cover… like I wonder who’s going to end up together

My biggest pet peeve is when the man love interest is an asshole, sexually assaults the MC, diminishes her or doesn’t get no as an answer when she wants him to get the fuck away from her, BUT at the end she “fixes him” with the power of love, and all the assault thing is just forgotten.

I have one pet peeve, and I found it on several isekai princess genre (I don't know what the specific name for this), it's just the lack of information of the mc's previous life. They just either died from overwork or something and just straight up living up their fantasy dream

one pet peeve for me is when the story your reading is described as like “action” or like “fantasy” and the plot somehow turns into romance/harem. or that one stereotype of the bland MC. 😭😭

I can prolly tolerate all of this but I hate that almost all of the villains are just plain evil for the sake of being hated and making the protagonist looks nice. I want them to have motivations and reason as to why they did what they did or rather I want them to be as morally grey as possible like how in reality most of us are.

I have some rare trauma or disability ideas for a few of my characters, but because they're rare; I can't always find alot of info that gives me accurate ideas for their lifestyle😭.

My biggest pet peeves are:
- When the character had a past life but that literally doesn’t matter and it doesn’t effect the storyline at all. Doctor Elise for example was amazing and it had the MC use their knowledge from modern life to help people and the story spun with that. Otherwise, it’s just… so useless and I don’t see the point of having your character’s past life not matter. If you scratch the part where they “died in their past life and was reborn in a new world” nothing will change.

- when the MC is too.. OP and Mary/Gary Suish—it’s just so annoying to read and it kills me. I’m looking at “The Lady Wants to Rest” especially…

- when everyone is so dumbed down just to make the main characters shine (not a webcomic but I’m looking at Death Note.. amazing story and all but it was just so annoying how the whole cast was so dumbed down just to Light could shine. I mean.. seriously?)

Just a random list of mine, I could care less if the art is bad or if the grammar is meh.

My biggest pet peve is how in most romance historical stories the Ml looks the same. Most of them are black haired manly and muscular men, apathetic or mean, Duke or crown prince and despite being cold, every lady in the kingdom loves him.
Other is when the MC of a romance just get too cartoonish expressions, when is done once in a while is funny, but sometimes it's just overdone and annoying

Cliffhangers are a good thing. As long as there's an eventual resolution to the conflict that's producing the cliffhangers its fine. The biggest problem I have with comics is the ghastly, unsubtle use of abuse main characters go through as a means of currying pity in the reader. Let me get to know the character first before you info dump all the mistreatment they went through so I can like, CARE about it.

I hate it when they make their mouths closed when they're clearly the one speaking 🙄

One pet peeve I have, particularly in webtoons, is when the mc grew up in an abusive household, and suddenly, through some sort of contrived reason, gets adopted by their “real” family, or a different family that treats them way better. That’s not the problem I have though, I think it’s a good thing they get to leave that dog shit lifestyle, but after that only good things happen. Literally. Everyone loves to gush about how “adorable” the mc is, example “she’s so shy and cute!” “Her eyes are so big and her face is so small!” “This child is so lovable!”, there is no conflict with the family even in joking ways or fun sibling rivalry, it’s just perfect family 24/7, mc is saved by family *gasp* nothing else happens it’s just pure… unrealisticness. And she saves the bad boy Prince by being kind or being “different”, her older brother cares so much for her he is willing to die for her and he never teases her I don’t even care. It’s so fucking boring.

here some of mine:
When the protagonist starts all strong and independent but then when the ml apears becomes weak and needs his help at every step and loses all badass personallity
When the protagonist ends up with the toxic ex/ guy who made her suffer rather than the gentle caring 2 ml's, thankfully in these there is always someone in the comments that asks if the protag ends with the asshole and if someone confirms I just nope tf out
everyone turns dumb so the leads look smart
when the protag gets pregnant and runs away (I swear this happens in 9.9/10 if the pregnancy happens at the beginning of the series 🗿)
Lack of communication and misunderstandings that could be solved instantly in a conversation taking up tons of chapters
Tons of irrelevant chapters/no progress at all for the longest time
cheap white lotus bitches with no motive and badly written, sick and tired of those, give me good vilains with motives and not just dumb self destructive hate bags for the readers

This is a nitpick since it has nothing to do with the story of these comics
But personally I don't get why a lot of manhwa/webtoon titles have to be super transparent
Stuff like "I got pregnant with the Tyrant's child" and "I am the older sister of the possessed female lead" are what weird me out the most
I get that there's a language barrier that causes these titles to look off-putting, but still

A couple pet peeves:
1. When the Fl has so many other good romance options and she chooses the MOST problematic/toxic one. Especially ones where characters have children with the shitty ML and they STILL end up with shitty ML. WHY CANT WE HAVE GOOD STEP-FATHER MOMENTS???
2. When the MC immediately forgives everything they were upset about bc of some stupid reason. Why don’t they let people just be rightfully angry until the other person actually apologizes? I just end up feeling even more mad for something awful the other person did that immediately gets forgiven. It’s not that simple.
3. ANYTHING r*pey in BL that ends up being brushed over as fine. This connects a bit with the first pet peeve. WHY DO THEY GET TOGETHER WITH R*PISTS??? It’s not okay???

For me the biggest pet peeve is the brother - sister love stories. it's super creepy even if they justify it by saying their not blood related or their step siblings. This was a huge issue in the male manga centric ones, where the Lil sis who loves the ml and act on it due to the fact thier not blood related, it's creepy there it's creepy here as well. (Or this could just be me)

It always confuses and disappoints me when — in isekai and reincarnation settings — the past life is discarded. I see many people commenting this and can relate, but it’s a large pet peeve of mine when a formerly adult/matured character reverts to a child with their personality and knowledge. It’s certainly fine if it’s their personality to be a brat, mischievous, and so on as that’s normal, but I find it strange that they retain their memories yet act exactly like their toddler age once they’ve migrated to a new life.

One of my BIGGEST pet peeves with webcomics especially on webtoons
-When a story is to long for it's own good.
Don't get me wrong I love long stories and a good story that I can binge and see for a long time is great. However a lot of the time featured or popular stories drag on for over 200-300 and more chapters while getting further from the original plot. Ones like Dice, Lookism, I Love Yoo, are all culprits of going on for way to long with unnecessary plot "twist" and getting so far from the plot that it feels like an entirely different story.

The same story concept being used over and over. The one I've been seeing a lot in web comic apps outside of webtoon was "this person had a crappy life and was executed for something that wasn't their fault and next thing they know they've gone back in time by X years and they plan on altering their choices and what happens in their life in order to have a better outcome"

Some other things that I don't like about webcomics include:

1. The panels are too small/not made for mobile - I shouldn't have to zoom in to read the characters' dialogue
2. Too much tell, not enough show - Too many words in the speech bubbles, lots of information is being conveyed through dialogue than through visuals.
3. Too anime-like - Anime art style kinda feels a little too samey, boring, and uncreative.
4. Exposition dumps - I don't want to have to plow through walls of text to get to the fun stuff
