comment for the algorithm yooo

the "MC always ends up being right" is definitely a pet peeve of mine smh, I like characters that make bad choices in the beginning and have prominent flaws, but grow and change into a likeable character throughout the plot

also when villains aren't given a chance to actually be threatening, only to make the MC/main group look powerful

i love isekai, but i hate when the protagonist foolishly puts 100 of their trust in the “original story”. for exemple: you reincarnate as a villainess in her childhood and the years pass, you foster good relationships with the main cast and somehow still expect the story to unwind the same? like as a villainess, you will not be hated if you don’t do evil things, that’s kinda obvious. and if you protect the ml and undo their trauma, no wonder he falls in love that’s what the og fl did too

my biggest pet peeve is how the mc mainly female ones romanticize abuse like even if the male lead is literally violating them let's say suddenly groping them, carrying them even if their not tired nor hurt and grabbing their wrists out of nowhere wth. I also hate the type of mc wherein they are like strong, devious but when the male lead comes through they be turning into this submissive thingy whatever like when they just let the male lead boss them, manipulates them and even gaslights them like wtf. That's why if I'm gonna read a webtoon I always prefer apathetic or messed up mcs like kill the villainess, resetting lady or concentration of malice lol

My biggest pet peeve in romance is when a character is perfectly comfortable with being single or even have adamant dislike towards relationships, especially when it’s trauma related or the character never ever expressed any sort of interest in romance before as a core trait, but then “OMG all of a sudden this other person appears and literally just exists, so I fall head over heels in love in 5 chapters 🤩😍😍😜”. It’s just so nasty 😭😭

This one isn't significant, but I'll say it anyways.
When the novel cover is significantly different from the manga's art. I do not blame the artists who take the job, it must be extremely difficult to keep up the schedule of weekly releases. My problem is that oftentimes, the novel cover is very high quality and gives me an idea of how the characters look, but the manga art style is a far cry from that. An example would be 'I Raised a Black Dragon'. The cover gave me certain expectations, but the manga's art was so different, I couldn't bring myself to read it. The art was pretty and cute but I couldn't bring myself to read it because it would ruin my image of the characters. Perhaps it's on me, but I just wanted to get this off of me.

ooh, a pet peeve with the reborn as a villainess genre specifically! when the villainess has already established herself as a great threat to a fiancé or crush or what have you before the mc takes over. That former fiancé etc has absolutely /every/ single reason to not like or trust her, but the narrative and audience treat him like trash for not being a push over yes man and instead assuming that the woman who tried to murder his friend to have him might, in fact, still be quite nasty under this new personality

Pet Peeve: when the manga author doesn't know how to end the story/ has no good way of wrapping up all the loose ends they've thrown in and you can tell they're stalling. They say it's hard to get vibe/characters/and plot perfect, usually a story will do two of those right. When the premise starts off strong and then can't complete it's promise. It happens all too often.

I absolutely despise when characters suddenly become powerful and kill someone without any repercussions or taking a moment to think about the fact they murdered someone

for me it's when it's a romance webtoon about a beast boy because most of the time the beast dude is tan or have brown skin and the (white) female protagonist is always like "i can tame him" like....
idk, maybe we should like.... not, do that

I love isekai themes but my pet peeve is how they can girl boss their way in it and suffers no consequences. I mean, I know their "historical" is more on setting and costumes (they even have modern bathrooms 😂), but seriously, women were not that free to talk and move at that time

My biggest pet peeve now is when the main character is suddenly a fashion designer. Out of nowhere. They also make a completely new style of dress that is completely different from everyone else, often much more scantily clad and provocative when everyone else dresses very conservatively. That would not fly, at all.

The country’s most famous designer has stars in their eyes as the look at the MC. The MC’s new dress is recieved with wide acclaim dispute either having no influence in society or being reviled by it.

It makes no sense how often this trope is used. I have dropped webtoons before with this trope because it’s gotten to the point that there is no thought behind it or even understanding on how trends are set.

My least favorite tropes are the “raising the male lead” where the fl is like a mother to the ml and raises him from childhood but they still get together when he is older. THAT IS WEIRD!!! And the “20/30 yr old fl gets reincarnated as a baby/child” and either falls in love with a little boy (GROSS) or an adult man who doesn’t know she’s mentally an adult falls in love with her (ALSO GROSS). Like just reincarnate her as someone her age or don’t implement romance until both parties are adults. Please.

Frankly what I think we need more Villains who are Evil for evil's sake, and loving every minute of it. They are living their best lives on some classic Disney villain energy. Those are my personal favorites. I miss them in a lot of media ngl. Are they complex? No, but they are fun and to me that matters far more than a villain that is complex for the sake of being complex and angsty and "Maybe they could have been fixed- but the are hot and believe in that they are doing so if only they knew-"
I don't want my villains fixed I want them to be Worse because they think its fun to be extra and mean. Idk if I am honestly explaining my point right, Words are not my strong point, Essays are not my friend-

Like, Complex villains have their place I admit, I enjoy it plenty, but I just want a dramatic evil villain who has fun with it and thus is fun to watch/read because of it- and If I have to write them myself I will! I'll do it! Don't try me-

My biggest pet peeve is when the author and readers reduce the second female character as a "white lotus" or "green tea b****". I don't think readers realize that they're perpetuating misogyny by being mad at the secondary female character for even breathing, blaming her for everything and how dare she not agree with the fl. Like you said in the video, to an extent authors don't give these characters depth and we end up with a shallow villains. I hate this ideology that the fl is always correct because she's not, it's obvious that FL's pov can be unreliable but many treat it as fact. Like I have seen this with charcaters such as jeanette, psyche and helena who have valid reasons for their actions but people hated on them to hell and back the moment they were introduced. Always blaming the women and encouraging them to fight each other when the real issue is classism and patriarchy. We need to be more critical with analysis and start treating these characters AS CHARACTERS and not just tropes.

one of my biggest pet peeves is the overuse of flowers. shoujo manhwas will put flowers EVERYWHERE, even when it's not needed. i was reading the archvillain's daughter in law and on ch 15 the fl thinks "evan didn't look so well last night" and there's flowers decorating the thought bubble and the whole room like ??? it's not a good thing evan didn't look well. the fl isn't happy about it. it's not a nice, pretty, endearing or lovely moment, so WHY put so many flowers. the overuse of embellishments annoy me way too much, like it's not needed all the time, you can give it a rest

My biggest pet peeves:
1. The author can't decide who to pair the MC with, so the comment section devolves into shipping wars. I honestly prefer "faux love triangles", since it leads to less headache. I've never seen a satisfying "real love triangle" that doesn't result in half the fanbase dropping off. It's even worse if one of the options is the more obvious one, like a fiancé or (if it's a fanwork) the canon love interest.
2. The author decides, for some reason, to follow the least interesting person in a very interesting story. Not naming names here, but... like, I don't care who the maid is going to date, I wanna see the queen get payback against her abusive, cheating husband.
3. The artist/author doesn't know what setting they are going for. Examples include: having Rococo or Victorian clothing in a "medieval" setting or giving the FL unrealistic clothing/armor because it will "distract her opponent". Bonus points if...
4. The author has clear distain for the actual historical inspiration, so a lot of time is spent explaining how everything, from the food to the clothes to the social structure, is inherently better in the author's/MC's modern-day country. This is shockingly common, and is usually paired with having the MC "fix" the issue by introducing a new fashion or something. Little to no care is given to whether or not those changes are actually plausible (ex: if the ingredients for a dish are available to the MC), and no effort is given to merge or modify the "better thing" (ex: the MC must strive to recreate a similar dish using ingredients they do have), since that would mean the MC (and the author) would have to compromise and acknowledge the benefits the culture does have.

One of my pet peeves is how most of the stories go in no direction, if it was a romance story then apart from all those events where mc and ml have bonding moments, the story actually has nothing to offer. The mc's goal is usually just some silly thing like 'avoiding death' that's easily avoidable in the first place. Also why is it that almost all stories focus only on like 3 characters and they take as much screen time as possible, it makes the world feel so suffocating and almost like panels Abt the interaction of those characters rather than a webtoon

i hate in the isekai villainess thingy where when the mc gets raincarnated in the villainess and the soul of the villainess just, doesnt exist anymore?? I like it when the 'souls' of the body intertwine, fight, fall in love with eachother and such, it adds so much to what the 'villainess' was about, what were her motives and maybe was she even in the right about the, usually bullying the og mc. My best example of this is the manga 'the one within the villainess' which i ADORE its so good

I got really annoyed by some of these pet peeves that I began to start writing/drawing stories of my own that completely took out those annoying pet peeves within manwhas and manhuas. Like currently I'm invested in writing 3 stories.

1. One about a top player that got stuck inside the game world and suffered many mental issues. She planned to change the plotline of the game story no matter what, and prevent the harem of the female lead from forming because the destruction of the game world will be triggered if it happens. But every time she tried to change the story line, a piece of her humanity will be gone. And I'm planning on making her slowly succumbed to the darkest, from a hero to a villain in the end.

2. Story two is about a snake demon lady in a xianxia world that only has one goal in mind. And that is, to save her younger sister and make sure that she lives a better life than hers in the future. She was smart enough to never play with fire and always stayed far from the main plotline characters, until someday the main ultimate villain's henchman came to visit for a deal to save his master, the villain. And from then on, the both of them work secretly in the shadows as the main characters fought it out with each other while the both of them reaped the benefits in the shadows. I'm making this one as an enemies to lovers troupe.

3. And finally, story 3 is about a psychopathic murderer that woke up as a different person in another world. She got there because the former owner of the body made a deal with the devil to summon for the most heinous, cruel yet successful being he could ever find to carry out her revenge in exchange for her life. From then on, the mc basically carry out a murdering spree left and right because she's having fun. And in this story, she was betrothed to an 'ugly, cruel, and pathetic' man that was basically a 3rd rate villain. Instead of pushing him away, she took him in even though he hates her. And together, the both of them set out on the path to destroy the kingdom and set the whole nation on fire. This story is basically me writing about two villains getting their way.

-Action comics where the entire plot is ‘revenge’ and ‘running away from dark past’... *Punch punch* *kick kick* and the mc’s personality is a bland macho man/woman with no expressions.
-also when a character has a double life/personality but they never slip into each other or have any effects on the face life/personality.
