Better Call Saul is the prequel to the award-winning series Breaking Bad, set six years before Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) became Walter White's lawyer. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. He should have shut his mouth and build and made as much money as he ever needed. It was perfect. But no, he just had to blow it up. Him and his love for his wife! He just had to be the romantic. If he had done his job, known his place, he'd be fine right now!

I loved how we got to see the lab under construction. It was like seeing the Death Star under construction in ROTJ

I don't think Werner fully knew what he got himself into and the kind of person he was working for that is why he spoke on the project freely but with caution. He just thought these are serious and secretive people that's as far as it goes. That is why he asks if there is no other way. His story is truly sad cause he had no bad intentions

As a German I can tell you they did so many things right portraying that typical middle aged German. The fabric handkerchief, the socks in sandals, his mannerisms, laughs, talk.

I btw wonder if there would ever be a good outcome to him and his men. They simply just know too much.

I think the reason Gus and Mike appreciated Werner over the others* is because he didn't even try to portrait the project as something easy, but began his assessment with all the upcoming difficulties he has to overcome. Also his methodical use of analog tools probably added to his professional image.

*By others I mean the other engineers they vetted, one of them is shown prior to Ziegler
