Why beginner guitarists hate BARRE chords

am i the only one didnt have THAT much of a hard time with bar chords i just learnd them which was on that much harder for me then other songs

the real reason is the wrist pain. I remember when I was a beginner I still didn't know how to hold the guitar and angle my wrist properly, and when doing barre chords I would squeeze so hard to press down with my index that it would just hurt and that just took the fun out of learning it. thankfully I have pretty good technique now and can play for extended periods of time without any pain

I've spent a long time learning chords and especially on barre chords back in the day.

I wouldn't do it that way again.

If a student really wanna learn guitar and not only do some singer/songwriter stuff learning some easy solo's and melody stuff in general gets easier progress and helps with motivation.

I learned barre through the powerchords which i suggest to everyone because you learn the basic shape and muting strings at the same time

I've always had a love for barre chords, back when I first started one of the bands I loved and looked up to were like a mix between reggae and alternative rock. So their songs use barre chords A lot. So I got used to them pretty quick lol, the band's name is sticky fingers btw

Two concepts that i had struggled with, I learned from these two gentlemen.. Triads from Tyler, Modes from Marty.

What's even stranger about learning barre chords early on is that they're not really very useful in a band context. They can sound OK when you're the only instrument, but they generally fill up too much sonic space when you play with a band or in a song you're writing. After many years of depending on barre chords for almost everything, I finally started learning the simpler triad shapes of major and minor chords and now I find them much more useful. I'll use power chords (root and fifth) for most "chords" with root or bass notes on the E, A, or D strings, and diads or triads for most chords with root or bass note on D, G, B, or high E strings.

We subject ourselves to it because it's difficult and so it needs consistent practice from day 1 in order to one day be accurate and clear and quick.

Lowkey I got good by skipping about 70% of the beginning stuff because I had to adapt to that more advance stuff and it made me better, that’s just me though

I never struggled with barre chords. Weirdly enough I struggled with an open G chord as a beginner. Because I learned it using three fingers with the pinky on the high G string.

I never had problems with bar chords they came pretty easy. It was the jazz chords like augmented chords and 13ths that gave me hell.

I only had hard time on barre chords on acoustic. As soon as I got electric, it became a no brainer thing.

If you start with scales to learn all the scale degrees first, then focus on your arpeggios, when you start on chords you won't have an issue.

Just use triad shapes built from the D string. Much easier

I love barre chords and ngl, prefer them over open chords to an extent.

Because it hurt like shit and it never sounded good, until like 3 years later (for me).
Edit: damn I forgot about Marty, I think the first songs I've ever learned were from him (mostly green day and pop shit). Havent seen him in like 5 years, but man he was that first step for me
