Akkermansia muciniphila is a mucin-degrading bacterium commonly found in human gut. A. muciniphila has been inversely associated with obesity, diabetes, inflammation, and metabolic disorders. Due to its highly promising probiotic activities against obesity and diabetes, A. muciniphila has drawn intensive interest for research and development in recent years. A number of human and animal studies have shown that the abundance of A. muciniphila in the gut can be enhanced through dietary interventions

Eat these foods to boost your Akkermansia. There are plenty of foods you can eat that contain prebiotic fibers and polyphenols that feed and grow those good gut bugs. Akkermansia loves ellagic acid, catechins, and tannins (polyphenols present in a lot of berries, nuts, and green tea). Keep watching to learn how to hack your gut microbiome.

Could keeping an eye on the levels of oxalic acid intake assist with gut problems by eating fruit, veg & nuts which are low oxalate? I have Hashimoto and had high blood pressure but have increased my meat consumption, eggs etc and butter and my blood pressure has normalised along with Hashimoto symptoms no longer giving me issues. Could low oxalate be why this is so?
