This is hopefully.... “He’s back” . Have so missed your reviews on M43 gear. I moved from Nikon FF to Olympus a few years back when your M43 reviews were in full swing. I remember one of your best, in my opinion, was the Oly 12-40 f2.8 Pro. I bought this lens on the strength of your review and have been thoroughly enjoying using this and the M43 system. Thanks for the great review and looking forward to more.

I’d love a video about your opinion of the G9. I used to swap cameras regularly but the G9 stopped all that. I’s great value now and still packed with up to date features.

I'm mostly an amateur M43 shooter (Lumix Gx9 and G85) wich also added recently a Nikon D610 for cheap. The tiny size of 'regular' primes (15 f1.7, 25 f1.4, 42.5 f1.7, ...) alows me to bring several lenses and keep it light . I always found that those pricier and heavier (for M43) f1.4 and f1.2 were mostly an attempt to isolate the subject that can be done cheaper and easier with a full frame .
That said, for those who makes 80% of their pictures with a specific focal lenght, the G9/12mm f1.4 combination makes more sense.

it reminds me how i followed your channel, you have the most full review of m43 lens, and how the system went down you rarely do that anymore, it was like a life time。

Thanks for the review Darren. This is a very good lens built to a high standard. I enjoy using this outdoors on my G9 and the bokeh quality especially given the focal length is great.

As far as value for money goes no complaints here. I picked this up new 5 months ago for the equivalent of USD $705. On top of that I received a rebate of USD $64 from Panasonic. That makes it - WINNER, WINNER, CHICKEN DINNER!

Great to see you still doing some MFT reviews Darren! I now have a full Fuji rig and yet I still hold onto some nice MFT lenses and bodies. The MFT glass is proportionately smaller and the quality is great! If I’m getting paid I shoot Fuji, but for walk around, travel and some video, I love MFT. And as you mentioned, you can do pro work on MFT if care is taken re: light levels and ISO.

The G9 is a large camera. A better MFT is the Olympus E-M1iii, which is significantly smaller and much better specifications.

Hi Darren. Request time! I know it wouldn't be your type of lens for what you shoot, but I'd love to see what you think of the Pana Leica 12-60 f2.8-4 as a walkaround versatile lens with weather proofing. All the best, Rich.

I too was a victim of pixel envy. I went from m43 to Sony a99. Yes, the IQ was great, the DOF control was great but at the end of the day lugging around the heavy gear was less and less appealing. Now I throw my m43 camera and lens in a bag without a second thought and (almost) never miss a shot.

Thanks for your review. I am a fan of your reviews, and this one is no exception.
On my trips I like to take clearer pictures, especially in the evening times or in close places like museums with not much light.
Would you recommend the Pana-Leica lens, even having the Olympus 12mm f2.0 and a G9, if I can find an used lens for half of its retail price?

Hi Darren. I must say I'm rather disappointed you left the micro 4/3 fold for the FF persuasion ): I shoot astro with the panasonic 12mm f1.4 on my Oly OMD EM1 and I can bump my iso to 1600 before I get any noise. With the 12mm f1.4 I really do not need to exceed 100 iso. Honestly, you can bump your iso higher than 800 as you stated in your review.

I use this lens on the GH5 since three years and I love it. In low light situations in buildings and at the evening walking in a town, it gives me two stops lower ISO for photo and video. Together with the stabilization of the GH5, I can film handhold at night in the normal light of a town using ISO 400-800 instead of 1600-3200 with the already good 12-35/F2.8. 12mm is also my favorite focal length for street and buildings.
You dog looks great in the pictures. In Germany, we call this a Dackel (pronounced duckl).

I’m currently working with the Nikon (D7200 and Z6) and Panasonic (GH5). I love them all. It is good to have options. The enjoyable system for me is the mft! For video, Macro and Wildlife ( for holidays in the tropics:)) it is unbeatable! Good to see a new mft review from you again. You should try the Sigma f1.4 line! Fantastic! Greetings from Germany

I refuse to go back to full frame since I sold my canon 5D mkIII. I can do everything I used to do my full frame with my new m43 gear, and even more. Finally carrying supertelephoto with my other lenses is possible. And for people worrying about dynamic range, there's no problem as long as you nail the exposure. Also the possibility to combine Panasonic bodies with Olympus lenses, best of both world.
