This really works. It may take a few months, and it may be stop/ start and I'm not totally "enlightened" but holy heck, my mind is quieter, I find I can deal with problems in step fashion, instead of trying to solve them immediately in a all-at-once-panic

I am always planning for the future and come to find out that the things I planned for never came true. I live with a lot of anxiety and stress and fear. I need to be present.

A good general truth I can never hear enough of. It's good that you distinguish between what we might call spectulative fantasies about the future and actual planning (e.g.organising an event). Also it seems to me that one might feel stress about present events - for example if we were being attacked. Finally, it is of value if we reflect on past events and think "I might have done that differently" and maybe make amends if necessary. Again it's not the same as obsessing pointlessly about the past.
