VW Beetle switch locked immobilizer quick fix I did for my car.

This is a quick fix to start my car when my ignition switch will locked. You need to have the original key inserted due to the chip/antena/etc Consult a mechanic. Do at your own risk. Im not a mechanic. I service my cars and know basic car mechanics. I do not recomend doing this. Like I said, consult with a car mechanic.

thanks for sharing the quick fix. it is kind of cool to start a car with a screw driver. I had the same issue. for now I also used a screw driver to start the engine. will replace the ignition module later.

worked! on my 2000 Jetta too. Charge the battery and leave the red cable off for 15-20. You will hear the computer turn on.

Figured this out today by myself. It ended up being the little pin that broke off. Just pull the lock cylinder out and buy a new housing from a junkyard or jb weld the pin

I have a 2000 Jetta and It at a ferry terminal. I will go and remove the bottom cover and hopefully I can do that with my screw driver . I which I could have seen you pull it out .

this worked for me until I replace the ignition lock. Make sure you open the key because if you don't, the steering wheel will lock while driving. Thanks!!

Just change this white switch into new one, or install ON/OFF switch in wire "Terminal X" (probably black/yellow). 

When you are starting you should have "Terminal X" switch in OFF position, then turn it on after the engine starts.

By mistake I remove someones good comment, my bad. This is optional and you do not have to break your car to do this. Make sure you have the key in, because the key has the chip. The key receiver is the antenna for the keyfob chip. Without the keyfob in the car will shut down after a second or two.

the answer to this is buy a ignition starter switch and problem solved. the prongs on the switch will break over a period of time.
