2. Put your finger in the key's track and pop off the back of the FOB.
3. Use a paperclip to poke into the little hole at the edge of the battery, and the battery will pop out.

5. Test the battery by using the FOB features in your car.
Car saying that your key is not in range?
In this tutorial, I will show you how to deal with your dead key fob. It dies every 6-7 years, so buy a replacement remote battery with the link above. The way to start your car (Jetta, Passat, Tiguan, Atlas, Golf, and more) is to hold your dead key fob right against the ignition, and firmly press it in to start (like you would with your finger normally). The car will detect that the key is in range and it will start.
To access the physical lock on your car, look under the driver-side door's handle. Underneath is a small rectangular slit. Put the end of your key or a flathead screwdriver into it, then twist to pop off the cap. This will show the physical lock on your car. You can use the physical key even if your remote key battery is dead.
