Constipated? Move to higher fat. Loose stools? Reduce fat. Eat when hungry. Eat until satiated. Don’t eat again until hungry. Adjust salt to taste. Stay hydrated between meals!

I’ve consulted with over 600 carnivores and the evidence indicates higher fat is the way to go. Keeps most from eating too many calories, maintains longer sense of satiety, and keeps the bowels going.

I'm a 50 year old, 110 pound, 5'4" lean and fit woman after one year on a strict moderate fat carnivore diet. I started out 140 pounds and metabolically compromised. I eat a pound of meat a day, like skin on chicken, ribeye, oxtail, beef rib, eggs, bacon, salmon, and sardines. My journey was filled with road bumps. This last leg I reduced my meat and water consumption to the amount that satisfied me. I overconsumed in the earlier stages making me too tired and full.

60 years Female and 5'3 on Carnivore for 8 months, increasing my fat intake makes me gain weight and causes my IBS to re-emerge. Controlling my fat intake definitely works better for me.

The condition I'm solving with a high fat diet is the deliciousness quotient.

Lost 50 lbs doing highfat carnivore last year, struggling with the last 20 lbs. Recently discovered Protein Sparing Modified Fast, but still keeping calories between 1500-2000, not adding fat to food, sticking with just the fat that comes with the meat only. It's starting to burn off those last 20 lbs. Bodybuilding, steps and sprints are definitely helping too but I was doing them for last 6 months so basically gaining muscle weight but was not losing my waist. PSMF seems to be the trick, this video is timely indeed! Thanks for the confirmation Doc!

Very true! I wish those who keep insisting you should only eat a moderate amount of protein would catch up on the knowledgebase we now have and how the body actually deals with it. I do the same thing when I want to lean out. I increase my protein while lowering my fat. It's common sense really. If you eat less fat than your body is burning for energy then it will burn your excess body fat when it runs out of the amount you ate. If you constantly eat the same amount of fat your body burns then you will maintain your current weight. More protein tends to cause me to be even more active such as exercising or working out harder. This in turn causes me to burn more fat and increase muscle.

50/50 fat/protein by weight keeps my body fat stable. That is 70/30 fat/protein by calories.
2 meals a day, and I eat until I'm full.
I'm not doing this diet for weight loss, I have other health issues.
I probably have 15% body fat. When I started the diet I ate more fat, but then I gained body fat. The amazing thing was that I also put on muscle, even though I was not exercising.
I'm now able to exercise 2 times a week, and it has never been easier to put on muscle.
This diet is great 😀👍

Wow, a majorly important "teaching moment". I learned this through experience. In 2022, I embarked on intermittent fasting, combined with zero sugar and processed. This was to attempt to heal my "long covid", or whatever we call it. Wow, my health went from hypothermia for >6 months, tremors, brain fog, and other issues, to much, much better. I bought a rowing machine (can't walk any distance due to foot injury), and started at one minute at a time, working up. Anyhow, I got lean. BUT

In November of 2023, I got severe symptoms in my cervical spine, with severe numbness in my extremities (especially arms/hands) and nerve pain that was .. well, worse than my foot pain. SO, I did a lot of research, and realized ACK B12 deficiency may be the problem. While waiting for doctor appointment, tests, etc., I went carnivore by the end of November. I'm still waiting on test results (it's Canada, and health care is almost nonexistent), BUT my symptoms, which meant only 15-20 minutes sleep at a time, and severe nerve pain (I'm a tough customer, and eff, man, it was bad) have lessened by about .. 80 percent? Along with zero seed oils (of course), I credit my relief of symptoms to my diet, and the healthy fats I eat.

That being said When I first 'went carnivore', I was flavoring my steak and hamburger with extra butter. I could see the extra weight after a few weeks, as I had also decreased my workouts due to pain, and So, I cut out ''extra fat" and used more salt. Presto! I stopped gaining weight, and my inflammation is mostly gone. Got testing today, and if I do have PA, will be able to get injections. At least we have "some" health care.

Anyhow, I hope this may be helpful to some readers. Thank you so much, Dr. Baker. "This is the Way." ;)

PS. I'm 66 YO, no meds, and wish we knew the truth long ago. Thank you for leading the way.

I don't quite understand the argument in this vid. But I support you, Dr. B. I'm no longer obese and maybe this year will not even be overweight, doing keto then carnivore just over 2 yrs. Diabetes type 2 is in remission. Feel great. I do exercise - but not like you! I walk, I do sprints - walk up a fairly high hill and sprint 3 or so days a week on the flats. Am getting into resistance band workouts. Even if I'm never lean it's ok - the no diabetes and feeling great and sleeping well part is enough.

2 yrs ago I needed to wear size 44 waist jeans but was stuffing myself into my 42s, hah. Today I wear size 34. The other day I managed to snap size 32 jeans in a store changing room - I got them on and snapped and zipped. They were too snug to wear daily, so didn't buy em yet. By end of year I may be in size 32. I prolly haven't worn 32 since 9th grade.

Definitely prefer high fat in the initial stages of adaptation, and I am still losing weight at a good pace. However you have given me something to consider once high fat reaches peak results.

I had a low libido on carnivore even after fixing my electrolyte issue and it was because I wasn't eating enough fat. I literally eat almost 200g-250g of ghee every day. I found my situation unique because I am a bodybuilder and runner. It turns out I need more fat than the average person.

Good on you being specific about units (kcal.) Most people are ambiguous, so the reader/listener can't tell if it's kcal or grams of fat v. protein.

I feel my best on high fat carnivore. It's helped my pain, anxiety and sleep.

I am a body builder and I also play tennis. I am a 51 year old female...been an athlete and lean my entire life. I tried carnivore because a plant-based diet nearly destroyed my gut. I prefer to stay around 60% fat. That seems to be my magic number in terms of energy and recovery from workouts. That said, I do include a small amount of carbs. That works best for me. I am extremely lean and I often need to add more carbs to prevent my weight from dipping below 120 lbs. I am 5'6" and if not careful, I will lose weight unintentionally.

Do not fear saturated fat!

After consulting with over 400 carnivores, I can firmly say, in my experience, a lower fat approach works better for dropping bodyfat for the vast majority of people. Funny that! 😜
