2020 Specialized Turbo Levo SL Comp Carbon eMTB Deep Dive Feature Review and Actual Weight

This is one of the more exciting bikes I have had the opportunity to review. It offers pretty much everything I think an eMTB should have, including feeling like a mountain bike. Specialized caught the industry off guard by going lower power and lighter, rather than the endless chase for speed. That makes a ton of sense with this new Levo SL 1.1 motor, and it really shines while riding. I am very excited about this bike, so let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

Just ordered one this weekend. I had one for a demo and i was very impressed....I was a HUGE opponent with ebikes. But after riding and trying one I worked just as hard just didn’t have to do my typical hike-a-bike on the 15% 2.5 mile climb i normally do

“That’s really where this bike shines”...it does actually shines a lot(1:02).

Amazing piece of engineering.

This is nice, the tech is getting exactly where I was hoping, power to weight ratio where it’s like a normal bike. Less weight penalty, over time it’s only going to get better and cheaper, like any other tech.

At a price tag of $13264.00 Canadian $$ tax inc. for their base model is just crazy but that's just my 2 cents

I ordered a Turbo Levo SL Comp last week and am waiting for delivery maybe even today. It's an exciting step forward for me after having ridden MTBs and road bikes for well over thirty years I do feel that some help in the power department might be just the ticket. What I haven't worked out yet is the difference between a standard SL and a Comp. I'm sure it will make me ride more and more often which can only be a good thing.

Take off the reflectors before video next time

That is the expert model not the comp. I have one and by the time you take off all the reflectors and rear plastic biscuit the bike weighs 38lbs in medium.

I've ridden my SL since April. Every ride the bike gets better and better. I have been a long time Specialized fan riding hard tail Stumpjumpers. I had my mind made up to get a 2020 Stumpjumber Comp Carbon but....I bought the SL Comp Carbon instead. I swapped my SRAM GX components with my now older bike. Maybe one day I will upgrade to carbon rims to meet the specs of the Expert. Until then, I'm really enjoying this bike.

I absolutely love this bike! Unfortunately, it’s price tag exists somewhere beyond my financial stratosphere! I think, 2x rider power is far more acceptable in the MTB community (or should be!) meaning as a 49year old, I may be able to have the endurance of a 25 year old?🤣
Don’t know if works that way, but it does level riding trail for the more cardiac challenged rider I would think, without turning into a “rocket bike”.

I’m seriously contemplating getting one for 2021, but it’s crazy $$, I’m liking the YT Decoy for $5k a little better!

Thanks. Definitely a stumpjumper fan. Been racing a 2019 carbon model cross country for just over one year now. I've bonded with it like no other. Feels like a part of me. If this one handles similar, they'll have no problems selling it. It's just a matter of time before I bring it home

James can you make a video with the motor sound. I am really debating between this and the levo expert carbon. I've tried the levo expert in my local bike shop but they still haven't gotten the SL yet. Thanks in advance.

for the price (10k cdn) you can get a sub 25lb bike w far better components and wheels... this comes w sram nx, lmao... for 10k .. and 250W output is peak, so most of the time you are running it below well below 100W to get any range out of it

Most importantly ebikes need to be service friendly. Battery pack changing easily so no need to charge each cycle, just change the battery. Also better battery packs can be swapped at each gas station.

This is the end result of everyone getting a participation trophy. Remember the days of getting teased for putting on a larger cassette? I'll buy a dual sport motorcycle and still have money in my pocket.

When it gets down to 25 pounds I’ll buy 1 😃
