As someone who went from 600s to a 1000 and back to a 600. I think for the street and honing skills the 600 is perfect. I found myself being a bit more timid in the twistys on the 1000 and my skills stopped progressing. Once I got another 600 I feel way more confident in the twistys and putting power down mid corner and corner exit.

Maybe I'm just a weenie tho

Edit: side note all my bikes have been early to mid 2000s with no rider assists or modern improvements so take that as you will

Went down from 1000 to 600 and am loving it. On track I can manhandle the 600, am way faster and having more fun, plus I save money on tires, brakes, etc. On the street, I’d take the litre bike, less buzzy, more torque - if you’re breaking the speed limit, do it right.

I don’t always feel like being miserable on a sport bike on the street, but when I do, I like the payoff of liter class power.

So as I understand it. You have to get a 1000 so you won't get bored. Then you get a 600 once you get the skillz.

Jesus man, I just like riding. It really doesn't even matter what it is anymore, I find the good side of any machine, warts and all. That's being said, both a 600 and a Liter bike would be great fun to have in my garage and great fun to ride.

I'm a beginner rider so I'm just gojng to skip the 600 and liter bikes and go straight for the Turbo busa

So having owned a gsxr 750, and 2 1000s I completely agree on the 750, it's a nice bridge! Still miss my 750!

I like the low end performance of the liter bikes. Its a lot of fun when some asshole in a car gets on your tail but then loses all hope when you pull away as if he's standing still.

If you're being honest with yourself a 600 is more than fast enough on the street
Even short shifting a 600 barely cracking the throttle you are going to be twice as fast as any normal road car
600s have power to weight ratios that most cars would need around 500 horsepower to match just to put it in context.

My starter track bike was a 2010 ninja 650, yes boring bike but very great power level and forgiving on missing downshifts with a rather flat power band, the only downside is weight was a little bit of an issue but that was easy to fix by stripping it down if the stuff you don’t need on a bike for the track. Now I’m running a 2015 Zx6 and love it, I recently fully race prepped it and think it’s one of the better 600cc track bikes due to the extra punch it gives over some of the 600cc bikes. But it definitely is more for a skilled track rider (not claiming to be fast lol) to ride fast, so I couldn’t imagine a 1000.

I literally just went from a ninja 650 straight to a liter bike little over a year of riding under my belt. Got a 22 ZX10R I really wish I would have bought a 636 or 750. I too am worried about my progression stopping or taking longer because it's such a monster.
On my 650 I was getting pretty cocky on it because I felt very comfortable on it

Little 1000s . What a girl's bike. What you need to get is a man's bike. A Harley Davidson. Yeah it might cost more. But you save money on helmets and safety clothes

The sole reason why I'm getting my license here in Sweden for a bike for the first time next year...is that I have calmed down with the way I drive.
My sole goal with getting the license is that my dream have always been A Hayabusa (no turbo) ever since gen one. 4 kids later and lots of cooling down with street racing cars that I stopped. I feel mature enough. So going 600 first..then in the end...oh yes she will be mine...oh yes! She will be mine! I just have to own one and have it in my shop to drool over. Haha

Just bought a 2009 r6. Still have my 2018 sv650 for a daily. Started on a 2014 cb500f 4 years ago. The 600 is certainly fast enough for now

Still have my first bike from about 5 years ago. Went with the 2002 CBR954RR and I’m in love with it. Enough power to do whatever I want, and can still man handle it when needed

Honestly, this helps me understand the positioning of my Ducati Supersport 950s more. No joke, this makes sense.

1000cc V-twin and V4 is where it's at! Aprilia RSV1000, RSV4, Ducati V2/V4 models etc. Heaps of torque for road-riding, no need to rev it out. And the italian V-twins will still rev out quite high if you feel like! And of course V4's ... Best of both worlds.

In Germany, you can legally enjoy the full capability of a liter bike on the interstate.
