Upgrading to a 1000cc from a 600cc

Starting on a 600cc supersport is already intimidating enough. 120-130+ horsepower and weighing only a tad over 400lbs, sportbikes can be wickedly fast machines on the streets. However, imagine adding another 60, 70, 80+ horsepower and DOUBLE the torque all throughout the powerband. Yikes. That's what you get when you upgrade to a 1000cc supersport. Modern 1000s are track weapons; some even come from the factory already equipped with goodies that their superbike or motogp counterpart has. For sub 20,000 USD, these monsters are a force to be reckoned with. This video is about my experiences upgrading to a 1000 only a year after riding and owning a 600.

Sit back, relax, and enjoy the stories.

Would I recommend a 1000? Absolutely. Is it for the faint of heart? Heck no. You must be either an idiot or a thrill seeker to own one of these speedy toys.

I have recently inherited a 2000 Yamaha r1 😅 it will be my first bike and I’m super excited about it. I’ve ridden bikes and smaller cc dirt bikes before so I’m super excited to mount this beast when the dry weather hits.

This video was so cool to watch and listen to. You sound humble of the beast and you know full well its capabilities and you respect them. With that mindset you should live to enjoy many years of riding. I have a GSX-S1000 and it’s all the power I’ll need for a street bike!

I feel you. Just got my S1000rr and though experienced with 3 600's and holy crap the difference. Lots of small wobbles with the front end lifting so often and easily. I love your ninja I almost bought the same one same color. Have fun ride safe

Jumping a on 1000cc as a newbie is a brave move.
I been riding for 30 yrs from 250 yamaha Tz to a 1962 Manx Norton.
I think for the road a 600cc is the go as its way fast enough for the street as for a 1000cc really is a track bike to get the best out of it. Unless you live next to the AUTOBARN

If you have throttle control you can easily do it. Ps. My first bike was an 08 cbr1000 I bought it almost 2 months ago out 2500 miles on it already. I still have not drove a 600 and the 600 was gonna be my first bike but the cbr was cheap af and had 13k miles

I went to a gixxer 1000 after 2 years riding a 600 ninja. I didn’t go over the speed limit of a street lighted street which is 30mph and I crapped my self but I had the biggest grin on my face

I too am in the first year of experiencing my first Liter bike which just so happens to be a 2017 ZX10r and yes it’s a stupid fast bike with stupid fast power. I went from an R3 to my ZX10R. What an utterly ridiculous difference. My ZX10r will almost go faster than my R3 in first gear. These liter bikes definitely command respect and brains 🧠. Mine has a full system Graves exhaust, a race air filter block off plates etc etc so it’s definitely a good bit more powerful than stock form. I started in low power mode and gradually worked up to full power over about two months. I still keep the traction level at 3 and up. I don’t want any surprise wheelies ruining my day and my bike. Have fun in that beast and ride safe bro.

I’ve been riding a ninja 300 for almost a year now. My friend is about to give me his GSXR-1000. Should I ride it right away or should I wait until I’m more experienced? Just asking for opinions.

You can own any motorcycle you want if you have self control and if you ride safe ask me how I know two of my friends started on liter bikes and never went or been down before it’s all about self control and maturity and riding safe and now they have been riding for a year and half and they still never went down in my opinion it’s the rider not the motorcycle control the motorcycle and don’t make it control you

So started and it has been a year on a 1133 Indian scout and now want to move to a Fireblade.

Getting tank slappers isn't "a normal thing" and it isn't caused by you holding handlebars wrong. Steering dampers aren't permanent, more like a pressure bandade on a wound.

You should check and adjust your front or rear suspension.

Front fork suspension sag and rear shock absorber stiffness. Great video BTW.
