I love that David hates the game but he still makes tip videos for our sake

Here's another tip I'd like to add, Ancient China, when you get to the training section, pick one student you wish to be the MVP and stick with that one person. Don't just instinctively give each one equal treatment as the game will pick the strongest member of the team to essentially be the main character and kill off the other two.

These tips are honestly more applicable to the original than the remake.
#1: Exploring is still worth your time, that hasn't changed
#2: This is the first major change, you can actually carry over your inventory in the remake.
#3: Still kind of applicable, but grinding to level 16 can be helpful, especially Oboro's chapter.
#4: Still applicable, but it's not the only way. Debuffs and Stuns are way too helpful in the remake.
#5: The hunt for sundown is honestly a bit overblown, you can get the battery, talk to sundown, go get Cube(because you will encounter sundown on the way), and on your way out encounter Sundown the last two sundown events.

I chose Sundown for the final chapter because I think he's cool and I dig the Spaghetti Western genre... Lucky me

Going over these tips, it feels like they were making it almost as much of an adventure game as RPG. It's interesting to see the creative team experimenting with genre conventions even back then.

During end game, it's good practice to complete your party 's trails for their unique weapons

Currently playing Pogo's chapter as my 1st one. I love this game. Reminds me of Trigger/ HD-2D games like Octopath and Triangle. Love to finish it this weekend. Thanks for the tips David.

The last point is an exaggeration my friend, yes, you do have to talk to Sundown multiple times, at Hasse's hut, the ledge near the trial of Instinct, the sign on the way to Lucrece castle, the throne room, the bedroom west of the throne room, then outside the castle where he will approach you. That is 5, not 9 (at least in the remaster). The tip I would give in this case is if you want sundown in your party to the end of the run, do not switch him out as if you do, he will be at one of the random locations you talked to him and this will be a pain if you want to recruit him again.

The Sundown recruitment is meeting with him 5 times. 9 is a lie. You just have to travel a bit to find him all 5 times. And most the time you can find him by seeing which way he left and following in pursuit. Choose the Shifu, better stats and at 16 Heavenly Peaks Descent can do work. If you picked Lei as the shifu she gets one of the best crowd clears in the game at I believe level 12.

One tip I heard was that in the japan chapter do not recruit the prisoner if you are going for a pacifist run.

I feel like as many of these videos I watch to help make sense of the game, I always leave more confused about what this game is.

Yeah, I found it strange that this game didn't have any shops for items when I first played it, but I think that it adds to the charm of the game.

God bless ya! I appreciate the heads up on this stuff.

When playing the kung fu chapter, focus on training one character, don't train the others

Honestly, picking Sundown matters way less in this remake with the lower encounter rate. You can walk to all three of his spots with maybe like, 2-3 encounters in like 5 minutes.

False" You take your entire inventory with you in the final chapter in the remake.

Another good tip if you are facing a foe and you can't beat them. running away helps

I'm still super jealous that LaL got this HD2D remake instead of FF6 😤

Actually in the final chapter you lose everything besides equipment, equipped or not. Whichever protagonist you choose gets their full inventory (I think) but everyone else only gets whatever weapons or accessories that were equipped or in their inventory by the end

I tried the demo and had fun with it, so these will be good to keep in mind when I play the full game.
