Using air pressure to burn cotton 🔥☁️

A fire syringe is used to compress air around a piece of cotton. Is the compression rapid enough to cause the cotton to ignite into flame...?

I remember doing this when I was about 9 or 10 years old with soda bottles and a piece of paper thinking it would catch fire. Although all I did was close a bottle, put some paper in it and step on it lol

When you compress air. The air atoms is also compressed to a small space and those atoms collide with eachother. And that what makes the cotton burn.. its simillar to Lightning. But it lightning. What collides is The electrons and not the Atoms

I find it fascinating what compressed gases can do! I remember seeing something similar on a Veritasium video but it was using hydrocarbons instead.

The piston can also be pushed back up if you used something like diesel or alcohol in the chamber! :)

I'm very curious why a motor couldn't run using this method, though im sure there is more to it. I've heard that this is basically how a diesel engine runs, so I'm assuming you still need it to actually move the piston.
