I wouldn’t recommend power feeding as it may shorten their lifespan

I when I was a kid I used to have a fish in a tiny fish tank which was way too small for it but when we moved house we had to move the fish to my grandparents pond by transporting it via car and it miraculously surviving the long journey the poor thing. It was really small and all the other fish we kept in that tank kept dying from the bad conditions but now this one has been moved to the pond it is about 5 times the size it once was and is still alive to this day.

One unfortunate side effect of "power growing" (when you feed a lot and do a lot of water changes to get them to grow as fast as possible) is it shortens their lifespan. I dont have first hand experience with this, but this is what I've read. I've had my biggest goldfish for a couple years now and they're probably closer to Jack's size than Olivia. But they are not small. Just not big

I am not sure how many people know this but goldfish can actually grow very large. They can keep growing and growing as long as there are the right conditions like the size of the tank. There have been people who catch goldfish as big as carp in the wild.

When I was little my mom got me two goldfish, they were tiny, eventually my mom had to get rid of them as she couldn’t continue to clean out the tank due to the ammonia. She gave the fish to her uncle cause he had a fish pond and my mom knew he would look after the fish. The fish became giants and they ate all of his expensive fish 💀

Grandma had a goldfish that she took good care of, lived more than 17 years and grew to be the size of a koi. It lived with the rest of my families koi in a koi pond lol

The most important part is SPACE. If they have room to grow, they will. If you over stock a tank they fight for space and food. The stress of fighting will prevent them from growing big and healthy. Can't believe you'll completely skip over that. Not everyone who watches is a pro in aquatic life.

Overfeeding will make your goldfish bigger, but it will also make it obese and more likely to die due to health problems. I've seen some with organs that had literally burst

It's depending on the size of the tank/frequency of water changes. The goldfish fills the water with its growth hormone, so if it detects high concentration of the hormone in the water, it will slow/stop its growth.

They goldfish are all adorable, but I am in love with Little Jack 2.0

The main reason has not been mentioned. Genetics.
Small matrix, small puppies.

Making a fish grow very quickly can actually shorten their lifespan💀

They also produce growth inhibiting hormones that effect them and other nearby fish, if the concentration gets too high it can stunt growth.

I've also heard the amount of available space will somewhat impact their size, it's why when people introduce them to ponds or lakes that have little to no predators they can get the size of a child's football sometimes even slightly bigger and destroy the ecosystems they were introduced to

Accidentally dropped the entire can of food into my goldfish now it's the size of a mini cooper

I fed mine with sausage, beef, chicken... even with fruit like peaches or grapes !
and they love it and became huge!
Goldfish eat anything edible, they have exactly the same behavior as piranhas, without the teeth 😂

The size of the tank also matters a lot. You can have a 10 year old goldfish in a bowl with all the other thing (theoretically) and it’ll only grow inside.
