When I was younger, we had this fish who we remember as mr demon fish, mostly because he would eat the other fish in our tank, and then either gain a physical trait from them or begin to mimic them in some way. He lived unnaturally long and I am still convinced he was an alien

Honestly that is one of my biggest pet peeves, when people think is cannibalism for fish to eat other fish or birds to eat other birds as of they were from the same species

Feeding fish another fish is absolutely natural. They dont come onto land to hunt deer. I used to keep fish when I was younger. If youre not careful they will absolutely eat each other.

I don't understand why people call fish eating other fish or birds eating other birds "cannibals" but they're perfectly fine with a lion eating a gazelle. They're both mammals, isn't that cannibalism?

Edit: People seem to be misunderstanding this. I am NOT saying gazelles and lions are the same thing. I am calling out the fact that a lot of people act like one species of animal eating another under the same classification (bird and bird, fish and fish, etc) is somehow cannibalistic, but they don't say that about mammals, because we're most used to being around mammals and we find it easier to differentiate between species.

At first glance it doesn’t look weird at all to me. The only odd thing is that garlic is good for some fish. This is actually such a cathartic post. I have seen hundreds of comments or commentary YouTubers (who I like) be shocked by the idea of fish eating other fish (like that time in Lilo and Stitch when she flips out over her teacher’s (?) suggestion that she could’ve fed her fish friend a tuna sandwich instead bc they were out of peanut butter). I get a quick flash of frustration. The majority of animals that live in bodies of water are fish. Nemo’s mom got eaten by a barracuda bc it’s normal. It’s a fact of life that a ton of people forgot about after middle school
