How to Pick a Lock

An easy way to pick a lock within one minute. How to pick a lock with only bobby pins. How to open a locked drawer or door and what to do if you have lost your keys or you are locked out of your house. A pretty handy skill that stops you from calling a locksmith.

This is a fairly essential life skill if you are ever in a situation when you are kidnapped, or you lost your own keys in an important time.

For normal locks like these you can use pretty much anything to easily pick the lock. Just make sure it's something small enough to fit into the lock, but also strong enough to turn it open (bobby pins, strong wire will do). Figuring out how to pick the lock may take around 20-30 mins during your first try. But with some practice you should be able to get it done in 1 min.

Here's some answers to the commonly asked questions I've been getting:
*1. How long does it take to pick the lock?*
Figuring out how to pick the lock may take around 20-30 mins during your first try. But with some practice you should be able to get it done in 1 min. The fastest time for me was 15 secs - I'm still trying to improve my speed

*2. Does it have to be a bobby pin?*
It doesn't have to be a bobby pin. For normal locks like these you can use pretty much anything to pick the lock. Just make sure it's something small enough to fit into the lock, but also strong enough to turn it open without breaking or bending (so bobby pins, good quality paper clips that don't bend easily, strong wire/rods are all possible).

*3. How do I relock the lock after I pick it?*

*4. I've been trying but it doesn't actually work :0*
Some tips is to make sure you aren't applying too much pressure on the base pin. Make sure it's just a constant medium pressure, press firmly but not too hard. Also don't give up! The first time I tried to pick a lock, it took me at least half an hour before it actually worked

*5. Tried all the tips and it STILL doesn't work >:(*

This worked! Only 10 seconds. Also works with jumbo Bobby pins. The key is the apply that constant pressure on the bottom one and fit the top on into a tight space. If the top one is still loose it's not in the right place.

After trying the directions of other videos, I pulled out two bobby pins and had this unlocked (and locked) in about five minutes time. It''s my own filing cabinet. I worked on it for an hour and a half with other videos, and had it unlocked (as I said) in five. Just keep wiggling the top pin, as the video said. You will see the lock start to turn. Thank you for this.
