Teaching kids to respect dogs at a young age is really important i recently rescued a 2 year old dog who was very nervous around people one day when we took her for a walk a young girl about 3 or 4 ran up to my dog and hugged her luckily my dog was really patient with the little girl but it could have ended really badly as we didn't know how my dog would react

It’s so important to ask bcuz me and my lil brother asked this one lady and she said no bcuz he wasn’t too well trained and might bite us. I was so glad I asked😅

It’s SO important to teach kids not to pet dogs without asking. I’ve had kids dart up and pet my (pet) dog before I even _saw_ them. He isn’t a biter, but little kids make him REALLY nervous, so it’s not really super safe for them to be doing that. :/
(He’s never even showed his teeth to a kid before, but every bit of his body language when they’re around says “I’m uncomfortable, these tiny humans freak me out”)

My kid is almost 2 years old, crazy about dogs and cats, and I try to teach her that too. I always ask the owner first and I tell her to be gentle, and pet them softly. ☺️
