We need ALL-I compression and 4K DCI on the EOS R6 in a firmware update!

@CanonUSA Please release ALL-I codec for the R6, too, especially for FHD: Happy 80D shooter here, but I skipped 90D already cause it lacked ALL-I... You say 4k is downsampled for higher quality - what about FHD? Is it downsampled from a full sensor read out, too, or does it still rely on line skipping? A high quality FHD 10bit with clog and ALL-I codec output would be handy especially for those of us who don't have the latest, greatest machine for seamless 4k editing available.

I would really appreciate it if you all would add ALL-I recording with a firmware update. It would make that $2499 price tag a bit more understandable. Other than that this looks like a solid camera!

I cant buy it until you add ALL-I to this! I speak for a lot of people. Don't screw this up Canon, it's your shot to take over the game. Firmware update fast!

We need ALL-I codec in Video IPB is not efficient for editing or shooting fast moving shots or professional usage. CANON are you listening ?

People were laughing when the EOS R & RP was launched, stating Canon has lost it.
Well... Canon was just warming up!

Why only IPB codec? Shame... Canon EOS R features 4K/30p video at a bitrate of 480Mbps with All-i and Canon Eos R6 doesn't have it? It make no sense to me.

No ALL-I compression is terrible Canon stop crippling cameras I knew it was something HUGE between the R5 & R6

Amazing camera but lack of ALL-I makes it a step backward from the EOS R. Please release in firmware update.

As a part time wedding videographer, this camera was so close to convincing me to switch from Sony but a few massively important aspects have crippled it for me:

- lack of ALL-i
- lack of dual recording for video (surely this isn’t difficult to include given it can do it for photos?! Why wouldn’t you include this?!)
- 30 minutes recording limit.

Such a shame as I love the feel of canon cameras but these features would be crucial for my work.

Why is there no All-I? This would hands down be the perfect camera for me, and be my next purchase, if it had that. I don't understand the choice to omit this when my EOS R has the capability.

Only thing this camera needs is All-I compression. The IPB will be fantastic for most personal projects, and I'm sure it's going to be great quality, but All-I will be so crucial. I think a lot of people are counting on that firmware update.

Seriously, no All-I? The Canon Cripple Hammer strikes again.

Can someone explain to a very me, a very uneducated camera person, why not having All-I is important?

Had really hoped for 4k 120fps in the R6. Well, will wait and see what Sony brings in the A7Siii.

Here's what will happen....They'll be a rush for both cameras at first, but given the economic climate sales for R5 will dry up....there's not much work out there atm. R6 should sell well, BUT no ALL-I will be a major stumbling block for many (including me). By then Sony will announce the A7s3 and take advantage of this gap. Canon will eventually realise and finally release an update allowing ALL-I in the R6, but it will be too late.

📣 And, of course, we have a very strong overheating of the sensor and the camera, which will not allow us to use this camera as a professional video tool. I wonder one thing, when Canon allows such things and releases an unfinished product, who "thinks it over"? What is their "logic"? Why does Panasonic think about overheating, but Canon doesn't?

Is 10 bit 4:2:2 only available externally or also with the internal record modes?
And are there higher possibilities with external recording like 4K 120fps?

Thanks for the review, does that mean Canon is not coming out with a newer version of the M50 ?
