Actually, a plague doctor was a physician who treated victims of bubonic plague during epidemics mainly in the 16th and 17th centuries. These physicians were hired by cities to treat infected patients regardless of income, especially the poor, who could not afford to pay. Theu wore the bird-like beaks to prevent smelling the plague (since it was believed that the plague was due to bad air, but it was not, but it still saved a lot of these doctor's lives)

A bit of lore on your question about Plague Doctor and Dr. Xenon working together is through the first 30 waves of Endless, where the advisor talks about Dr Xenon's supposed ''plague division'', which is made up of xientists, mutated zombies, revived mutated zombies, tanks, and other potential experiments of the plague doctors (Yes, I believe there are multiple of them), and also a Plague Doctor himself.

The portals could also be used as teleports, it would explain how theres maps in questionable places like moon base, singularity and blade works (although that last one is a bit more different since is another world)

This is a very good theory, but it heavily relies on the Collaberation between TDX and TB. This may actually be correct, but you would have to hope.

Ok guys, I have a dumb theory.
Eradicator MK IV is the older brother of Eradicator MK IC. I believe this because MK IV is larger than the MK IC. This is further proven when MK IV is on low health it runs, kinda like an older sibling running away from mom after their younger sibling called them, which is why I believe MK IC is the younger brother. At half health, he screams out, which feels like a younger sibling calling for mom. He does this again when he dies and tries to fly away but becomes a firework.

while i do think there is time travel involved in tdx, I do not think we are traveling back in time to borderlands. Note that the borderlands maps have gda symbols on them, showing that the gda already control these locations. The gda dont come into existence until after the void is defeated and the world needs a global defense army. I think it is far more likely that the orbs simply summon the enemies from the past, not necessarily that we are traveling to the past to play these maps. Good theory nonetheless

remember about Tb x Tdx Collab this also led question that old tower are recuited to GDA so commando is indeed also using that black orb portal so which mean more TB tower are coming soon to game with some change on future of game (even tho 5 skin are just a reskin of current tower)

I have a theory for the reason why plague doctor cant kill towers. Simply is because the plague doctor is from the past, back then the void couldnt kill the towers so it would makes sense for the plauge doctor to not be able to kill towers because the plauge doctor is from the past.

Or, the orbs on the og maps are not being used by either side, but by the enemies coming from the void (the dimension) itself, and because of that, GDA is recruting retired towers so they can learn more effective ways of combating the old enemies.
And if you consider what I said, the plague doctor is still a mystery, but still, I think this has more probability than literal "time travel".

It does make sense since there's tower battles skin for dj, juggernaut, operator, sniper and missile trooper.
