I’m retired after 30+ years at Apple and I can say that he’s 100% correct. An internship is basically a long job interview. And a majority of interns get job offers after they graduate. Note however that one of the things we looked for is how much work you got done vs. how much of the intern social events (parties) you attended. Most intern work is grunt work… but we expect it to get done. Associates at other bleeding edge tech firms confirm that they’re the same way. An internship can be more important than the details of your degree if you can do the work and they give you a huge edge over graduates that didn’t intern.

I'm a mechanical engineering senior starting fall of 2024 at Arizona State University. I neglected to acknowledge how hard it is to obtain an internship. Applying to 50+ internships and having extensive automotive hands on experience I thought I would attain at least 1 but still can't and almost lost hope literally yesterday on 7/11/2024.
