Say what you want about X-2, but I loved it's battle system. Just a blast to play. X is for sure the superior game though. Downloading now on my Switch!

this imho is the perfect game for someone who will play a final fantasy game (or even any other jrpg) for the first time. you can relate to tidus's "omg what the fuck is going on, huh, ok, so this is how i hit things" mentality so easily. and connecting with the protagonist as strongly as possible is always important.

FFX's true turn-based battle system (and '''switching''' characters, whether it be low HP/MP, or needed elemental attacks, or swap in Yuna to heal) really made me love it a little bit more than the other games. Just taking your time and truly thinking out each move in every battle, while seeing when the enemy's turn was, as well as your party, and whether or not you could delay their attacks, was so chill, and perfect for handheld gaming or taking pauses in battle. The skill/sphere grid was fun. And automatically healing your party at every save/sphere point, were just little great extras to an already great story, graphics, music...and *mostly* fantastic voice acting...as in Auron, Lulu, Kamari, Yuna, Waka, certain moments from Tidus, and Rikku had her good moments too. Great voices from the secondary/minor cast as well. Ironically, as disappointing as X-2 was, the completely new and vastly different battle system, was incredibly fast for turned-based, and very fun if you enjoy grinding and leveling up. It saved the game in my opinion, and spent hours at a time just fighting random battles. FFX was the last classic Final Fantasy game (even minus a World Map, and for the most part, big open areas). The game is so good. There's definitely an odd reason FFX HD Collection is worth getting even if only plan on playing the first game.

Ahhh the memories! Been playing FF7 cuz I never beat it before. FF8 is my all-time favorite and 10 is my 2nd favorite. This is bringing back so many memories I definitely need to pick this up on the switch.

I played FFX2 for the story. Wanted to see Tidus again. The intro for FFX2 was dope, like watching kpop🤣

Ahh final Fantasy X loved that game on the PS2 never finished it got all the way to Sin and couldn't beat him guess it's time to finish it this time

Thank you for saying that linearity isnt always bad. Not every game needs to be open world. As you said, it felt like a pilgrimage.

Thanks for a great review. I played this when it first came out and never completed it. I just picked it up on an eShop sale and I'm really looking forward to replaying and completed this in it remastered version.

About to play FFX in 2024 as a 46 year old guy that hasn’t played it since 2002 when I was 24 years old.

I just got the Switch version at one of my local Walmarts that had it on clearance for $15. It was $16 and some change after tax though so probably a bit over $8 each game. That said I own two PS2 copies of X because one is my original Greatest Hits version a friend of mine gave me back in 2006 which got me into FFX and Final Fantasy altogether. I lost that copy so bought a Black label to replace it only to find the Greatest Hits version when moving houses. The black label copy also came with a black label copy of X/2 both complete with case and manual. That makes one PS2 copy of X2 as such. After that I have two copies of the PS3 HD Remaster because one is the regular case and the other is the big Collector's Edition artbook with the soundtrack on a second Blu-ray disc. Also have the PS4 version which is the Limited Edition with Desktop calender and outer cardboard box. Now I have the Switch version as well so in total 6 copies of X and I guess five copies of X-2.

Too much money - they are asking remake prices here. Rerelease of RE 2 set the bar for asking this much and putting the effort forth to make it worth it.

I am also waiting for the import version. I am one of those rare people who prefer Final Fantasy X-2 to Final Fantasy X, and having both physically instead of X-2 being digital only in other regions is a big deal for me!

I have this on ps2, ps3, and ps4 haha. I'm definitely getting this on the Switch Tuesday. FFX is my favorite FF game. The way the utilized the summons and sphere grid made grinding actually enjoyable. I always lead to making Lulu my strongest character, Yuna second and Rikku 3rd,

I received the Switch version of FF X/X-2 as a Christmas present. I love this game, the storyline is really good, and I’ve had the full soundtrack on my MP3 player for years. It gets a regular replay at least a couple of times a year!

Good game, love all the FFs coming to switch, wish 8's code wasn't lost/crazy. Looking forward to Grandia 1 coming to switch also, holding out hope for Star Ocean 1 and 2 on switch.

X-2 gets a lot of hate because the story was weird, and kind of stupid, but the customization that the dress sphere and garment grid system offered was amazing.
Ive played through both games every year or two since the PS2 days.
