Colin. Thanks for covering Kiss. I'm a big fan of theirs.

The fact you fixed that SG and now it's a regular on the show pleases me to no end. It tickles the part of my brain that nags "Alright you got the gear and it's ready to go, now USE it!"

Harley Benton continuing to prove that "expensive = better" is no longer the case. Amazing bass sound, great video!

The SG solo through the 20w Orange and Tube Screamer sounded fantastic. And yes, a Fender-type and Gibson-type sound great mixed for several reasons playing 70s hard rock. Strutter was the first KISS song I ever heard. Your 'cover' did it justice. Enjoyed it, thanks!

Oddly enough I just played this song like 30 minutes ago then get on YouTube and see this video. Awesome job!

The strat in the 35RT sounded unbelievably MASSIVE! That 10" is packing a lot, props to orange for the design. Also the solo track sounds very 70s indeed, both from the way you dialed and from the tracking and post production. You're quite the player, Colin!

I wouldn't say the "wrong" gear. Yes, thinking of KISS, especially early KISS, you think Marshall stacks, a Les Paul, a Flying V and a Gibson Grabber bass. Modern, a Les Paul, Gene Simmons Punisher with active pickups, and an Ibanez PS10. However, in the studio, that wasn't the case, especially in the early days. Paul would do most recording on an SG or Les Paul, Gene used Fender P basses, and Ace would doubletrack his using a Gibson and a Fender, usually a Les Paul and Telecaster. Lots done through small Fender Tweed combos. So with what you used, it pretty much did nail the original Strutter sound with the modern equivalent of what they actually used when tracking it in 1974.

The power stance really pushes the lows in the bass, good job

Great replication of the sound, I almost painted my face 😁 (I kept it to singing along) Greets from Belgium, Simon

This is one of the main songs by KISS I listen to. Nailed it, as per usual my friend🤟

Nicely put together. And I bet you loved playing ALL of that gear! It really just comes down to playing what you want to how you want to.

That sounds absolutely fantastic. It's a good example of how tweaking gain and eq to work correctly in a mix doesn't necessarily work like you might initially expect. On their own, some of the guitar parts made me think, "hmm, I dunno..." but when they're played in the context of the rest of the mix, they made me think, "hell yeah!"

It was also cool to hear each guitar and bass part separately in turn. This probably made more work for you during the video editing process, but it gives a clearer idea of how they all fit together. Nicely done!

The only two kiss songs I ever liked were Strutter and Beth. I loved the way you isolated the jam track by each instrument with panning. Really Clever way of demonstrating getting a specific tone and def nailed the 70s kiss with the vocal added 🙌

Thanks for jumping into the 70's. I've witnessed a trend for videos delving into the 80's-Almost thought i was getting stuck there..First time i heard KISS was on 8 track. You nailed it Thanks again.
