I am a Systems Administrator and an IT Enthusiast! This video will give you a glimpse of the fun tasks us sysadmins get to do on a daily basis. I join Johnny G at his new facility and we only have 2 days to set up all hardware and network equipment.

I filmed this vid with my cellphone so apologies for the fast movement. I will be more conscious of the footage for the next one! =)

I love the video. I’m currently in school working on my BS in Information Technology with the concentration in Network Administration. I love seeing hands on work, rather than all talking.

I.T is a career that requires passion and empathy.

I think alot of what's not being taught in colleges and stuff is how ro deal with end users because if you an impatient person you will have a tough time.

cool video - i would recommend you get a tone tester and a cable tester, cheap ones are about $40 and will save you so much time. - also recommend doing a service loop in the cable for the network cables so if something goes wrong behind the patch panel at least you got that spare bit of cable in the service loop, O and a punch down tool would save you loads of time when doing the patch panels. (just recommendtions - i do these types of installs all the time and the above tools save me loads of time) - Keep up the good content! only found your channel a few days ago and love videos like this.

Loved this! I really enjoyed learning about the tech you worked with, and how - and also loved your narration and storytelling! Thank you!

The port in the wall next to the power outlet maybe used for several things such as a TV or other IOT devices. HDMI can be sent over cat5 for long runs.

I'm new to IT, so I could be wrong but I believe there is a stigma about work environments being difficult due to short tempered or self righteous technicians.

Because of this, I appreciate your positive energy and joy that you bring to your work. It's refreshing and good to know it's not all doom and gloom

This feels more like network administrator, or desktop ops than sysadmin. In the enterprise environments I have been in (Healthcare and Financial Services IT), the network and desktop teams are separate groups from system administrators. You might assist the other groups here and there, but we'd never be setting up new workstations or setting up network equipment (unless helping out severely understaffed folks in network ops).

Obviously, every business is different but this doesn't really get into the actual bread and butter of what being a sysadmin is. That is, server, policies, account, cloud infrastructure, etc. management.

It was a good video, but didn't really show what an actual average day may look like. This would hopefully just be a once in a while thing to help out.

so we just gonna ignore the fact that a server is a lil OptiPlex desktop? Lol! Nice work knocking out the office setup fast from scratch 👍

This more of a Service Desk or Desktop Support. Maybe little of Network admin since you’re dealing with switching. SysAdmin deals more with servers and cloud, network, security. Less physical work for sysadmins.

Can you please describe the ISP network/telephony devices mounted on the wall above the patch panel/switch?
