Today we talk about Ekron aka Doe Valley aka Fallas Lake aka Lickskillet, and we try and figure out if it is a good idea to travel there.

The whole Ekron, Lickskillet, Fallas Lake naming confusion is based off the location relative to other towns in real world Kentucky. The devs confirmed that it was supposed to be called Fallas Lake, for the "interesting" looking lake above the church. I think it was Broadened Horizons, or one of the other Thursdoids that mentioned there being a sign in Build 42 so the community is aware of it.

Yep, Fallas Lake is the official name by the devs (referencing to the peculiar lake nearby), and they are going to place a sign to make it clear. If I remember correctly, they are going to add a city that is supposed to be Ekron eventually.

Fun Fact from someone who lives near this area

"Doe Valley" is is actually where the Country Club, Golf Course, and small thing of houses is. You know, the spot right below Riverside. That's Doe Valley.

"the zombie population is low" as b-roll shows 50 zombies falling out of the window 😅

I like Spoodleville very much - it's usually my go-to base location if I start in Rosewood. Don't get me wrong - it's a nice starting location but I just can't see the appeal of living there long term.
But instead of living in the gas station I like the building next to the church better after I find the ellusive sledgehammer - lots of space upstairs, flat space just a hammer hit away for a garden and very close to a lake! ❤️

Hey Spoodle, to increase length of viewership it's often a good idea to make playlists on your channel. All these "should you travel to" videos would be great for new people to find your channel and go through your backlog of content

That gas station is one of the best "non-impassable fences" base locations around.

You get the station itself, shop inside with some reasonable food supply, actual home, and lake nearby. So - if you dislike the idea of walling yourself off in a gated community with indestructible fence covering 90% of possible entryways, this is the place for you.

Once you wall it off, this is a pretty good candidate for a self-sufficient base - with the only hassle remaining being hunting for electronic scrap for generator maintenance.

This place actually has REALLY good loot. I've started 3 servers now and each time I find about 2-3 HOME VHS, good weapons at the store ((as well as military jackets / trousers)), tons of tools and such. GREAT place to loot just not to use as a home.

One of the best places to base IMO, especially if you use the spawn anywhere mod and start there first. The zombie count can be deceptively high, but honestly a trip to the bar to get booze for a molotov and honk your car horn to bait the zombies up to the field left of the gas station and you get a good bunch in a single burn.

for its small size, this town is absolutely packed with zombies, so not a low population by any means (depends on your settings I guess)

Ekron is absolutely goated with the sauce, me and my friends set up at the two story gas station and it was great honestly (even if we got more attacked by zombies than we ever expected.)

Honestly I never knew this place even existed till my latest modded scenario helicopter crash.
I started out in the fields in the middle of nowhere and as I made my way through dove valley I reached this town I've never seen before and decided to just go with the flow.
As a starting location the zombie population was very low and loot was plentiful.
This was very helpful since the scenario I'm playing you start out with all sorts of deep cuts, wounds and fractures.

I would even call this town a Mini rosewood cuz it really does feel like that.

There is another Army outpost near the farms with the wells, just south of the town of many names. Usually you can find food in the mess hall, and a generator in the shed between the mess hall and the barracks. Sometimes you can find knives, ammo, and military backpacks in those wall lockers and foot lockers too. There is another Army outpost to the west with a mess hall. No shed with generators or tools though. I think there are 4 or 5 small Army outposts spread around the map.

I was waiting for this one, spoodleville is by far my preferred location in project zomboid, you underestimate the power of the lake! 10/10.

I can remember actually marking this location off as a death zone when I was playing with friends. For reference I was the killing machine of the group with more kills on my name than all my friends combined. Eventually I decided to check out this seemingly desolate location only to be welcomed by a horde of say maybe 200 zombies. And that was on the road at the gas station. At first the population wasn't that bad. I easily dealt with the few groups that were there and I decided to break into a house to begin looting and BING house alarm number 1. It caused a huge group to converge on that one house and since zombies from different locations were breaking and entering to get to the alarm it caused not 1 but 2 more house alarms to be triggered. By the end of it both me and an accompanying friend had almost died multiple times and we ended up fleeing after my kill count rose by another 100 or so. It was absolute insanity.
