Thank you Fares! I am just returning to swimming after 20 years and I never got the hang of breathing underwater and the freestyle stroke when I was younger. I just do breast stroke with my head out of the water. I am determined to master this and on Monday it felt impossible like I would never get there. After watching this video three times and following the instructions to the letter for 2 one hour sessions at my local pool I swam a whole length of freestyle and a whole length of breast stroke (with proper technique and underwater exhalations) today and it felt good! I kept thinking of your words "be one with the water" and "I feel good"! That positive reinforcement is very important I feel. And damn I do feel good now!!! Thanks again!

This was super helpful! I'm not new to being in the water, but I just recently learned to swim with technique and the breathing part during freestyle is my biggest struggle. Will try these tips! Thank you!

I'm not new to swimming, but I have 48 years of bad habits that I have to overcome and unlearn! The habit of filling my chest with air, filling my cheeks with air, and holding it while I go underwater has become basic instinct with me, as I've done it since childhood! The other instinct I have that I'm focusing on overcoming is the reflex to swallow as the water comes up over my chin/ mouth/ nose area. I'm focusing on exhaling through my nose and I've made little progress, but progress nonetheless. My girlfriend got me goggles for Christmas so I can't wait to use them when I go to my next gym/ pool session!
I will get comfortable with these techniques because I plan to visit Croatia with my girlfriend next year, and the beach she goes to doesn't have a shore that I can wade in. They climb down a ladder so as long as you're in the water, you're swimming! I can't wait, but I definitely have to strengthen my swimming and these videos are a tremendous help! Happy New Year!!

Thanks so much I’ve been able to swim for 20 years now but I’ve always had anxiety exhaling underwater and would always just breathe in and out with my head above water and I’d be exhausted so quickly. These breathing tips with bubbles will make me so much more comfortable being in the water!

I keep swallowing too much water! I don’t know why when I turn my head up I have ton of water cascading down my face and when I breathe in all that water goes inside my mouth. I’m actually a very good swimmer, otherwise, so not being able to breathe properly is beyond frustrating. 😢

OK this was super helpful. Thank you. Can't wait to try getting in the pool again to try some of these. Breathing is THE hardest part, I love the tip of getting calm before even getting in the pool. Preparation! Thank you for the slow and specific instructions.

This video is very helpful.
I'm not a professional swimmer but to this day I struggle to turn and breathe resulting in me swimming from-to without breathing and makes me very exhausted 🙈
I'm watching this video again and again hoping to change my way of swimming.
Thank you for sharing this knowledge sir. 🙏👍👏

Fares, thank you so much for this educational video. When breathing do you want to exhale out of the mouth only or both mouth and nose? Also, when getting head out of water to breathe, do you want to breathe/inhale through the mouth only or both mouth and nose? I am confident you can answer these questions for me when you get a second. Thanks again for educating all beginner swimmers. Have a blessed day.

Good slow lesson and repeat practice…. Just what I needed. Will take that to the pool tomorrow. Even if that’s all I do for a few days. ❤. Liked and subscribed.
