It's a art and a learning curve. The extra effort is worth it

Put a plastic card in when setting and changing. Simple.

edit - oh and tune a bit flat or sharp depending. once it's floating... ;)

I have one, it has it's place. Stable a a rock. I'll take the longer string changes to not have to mess with a Bigsby, I hate those things.

Floyd roses aren't that difficult to string up, just more time-consuming, but for a beginner, or for someone doing it for the first time, it can seem daunting.

8/9yrs ago I never own a Floyd bridge so I was warned not to buy a Floyd bridge you’ll hate it …. So I bought a Floyd guitar for shit & giggles.
I changed my strings and walla I’m sink to my stomach with “I just destroyed my Floyd bridge!!! “ It was to high to diving into cavity over a 24 hr period ..
😱😱😱
After hours then days of YouTube vids I thought I figured it out and no I didn’t figure out 😡
After about 5/6 months ( not daily thou) I finally figured out the Floyd Rose bridge‼️
Now I can do A thru Z on it and wouldn’t mind buying more Floyd’s equip guitars.

floyd’s ain’t too hard to string up tbf, as long as you do it properly. if it’s done properly then it’s very rewarding and fun to play, and they can also be very stable. love floyd roses

I strung my floyd up pretty fast. I didn't have anything to fit under it, so I slapped the backplate under there, because who needs them, right?

Im a beginner and I was given a floyd rose guitar as a first guitar and at the beginning it was kinda hard to manage tuning, but after I think about 2-3 hours of tinkering I got it in tune, and it’s very stable once you get it in tune.
I have one question, how do I tune a floyd rose to a different tuning, lets say DACGCE? Its hard enough to tune it to standard? Anyone?

In mid 2000s i got my first ibanez super strat at 15. No one was there to help me to set it up, the most frustrating experience I ever had.

It got so bad, that no matter what i did after i string and tune it the bridge would stay at 45 degrees no matter what. I sold it at a loss and got a fender later, was much happier.

Definitely NOT for a loner teenage noob who is getting into guitars, i just thought they looked cool, was my big mistake as a kid

If it isn’t floating then it suddenly becomes the one of the easiest guitars to string/ tune. If you know all the little tricks

"Floyd Roses are notoriously hard to string-up."

Get Elixir strings that you won't need to change for years. Problem solved (unless you break a string 😅).

Getting Steve vai vibes from that guitar😂

Not that hard to tune and change strings, especially once you get it dialed in. No harder than a Strat trem that floats. Just change strings one at a time or do a little research (there’s other ways to get tuned up).
Floyd’s are cool!
