Are 1080p monitors worth it in 2025?

I got dragged for having 1080p monitors instead of a 2k monitor or a 4k monitor. I really am not sure if my Intel i9-12900 and NVidia RTX 3070 Ti is really able to handle 2k or 4k at 244 fps consistently playing a BR style game. What do you think?

1080p is totally fine with high refresh rate and high fps. I prefer 2560x1440 so I have more space to snap windows, but that's the only reason

There are still a vast majority of people PC gaming on 1080p. Simply because of affordability. Plus 1080p isn’t that bad and isn’t all that demanding on your PC

1080p is fine, even 900p. I'm on a 540hz 1080p monitor and sometimes I drop it to 900p to maintain high fps in comp games.

I decided to go with a 1080p Monitor with my 3070ti 4y ago to extend the time I can properly use this GPU on (almost) full settings. It worked.

However, I will switch to 1440p (maybe ultrawide) when I build a new rig in ~2y

Well for most people 1080p fits the budget as well as being the best resolution quality for competitive game play. But if you got more money and don’t think you’re going to play competitive I’d recommend a nice 1440p monitor if you’re a big baller get a 4k oled 😂😂😂

I have a 4k 120hz monitor that I use for work and browsing, and a 1080p 360hz monitor for gaming (both competitive and single player). I prefer high refresh rate and low input lag over high res in gaming, you barely notice the difference in res after 5 mins of playing anyway. Yeah sure if you put both monitor side by side and nitpicking it then you will see the difference, but after a couple of minutes of playing your brain will just get used to it. But the low fps or input lag, response time you will definitely notice even after playing for months

1440p should be the minimum standard now. Overpriced 1080p monitors are just taking the piss!

I have 1 LG ultrgear 1080 165hz looks good with my 3060ti in thinking of getting another one so I can game on 1 and use other for side apps without having to switch off game. Is that good or should I get a 2k LG ultrgear as my main?

it depends on your screen size. if you're on a laptop below 16" 1080 with 165> refresh rate is fine. 16 and above i do prefer QHD.
