For years I’ve reviewed 1080p, 27” monitors, and I’ve almost always steered clear thanks to the lower pixel density, but it’s been a while so lets see if they are still not great, or if something like this Viewsonic XG2705 is worth picking up.

Dude, we can't all all afford better displays - this is a general criticism that I have regarding reviewers of PC hardware, "if it isn't top of the line then it is crap", keep an open mind and do realize that while most people will be more than happy to see a review of something high end, a lot of us simply cannot afford it or find it anything but reasonable to find a place for a 4K monitor in their monthly expenses. It is a big world, and not every country pays equally for the same provided effort.

(People with 32 inch 1080p monitors looking away)

27" tv's used to be the biggest tv you could buy. Ask any 50yr old people you know.

The problem with the monitor is its too expensive for what it brings to the table. Priced right it be just fine.

27" 1080 is okay if you will ONLY play in it. You won't notice that the text is not that crispy since you are more focused on movement looking things, etc. If you are going to use it for work, reading text, it will look blurry. I bought EX2710 returned it and bought ex2510

For people currently debating whether to buy a 27" 1080p monitor or not:
I currently have a 27" 1080p monitor and I can say that if you find a cheap price for a monitor like this, you should definitely take it, it can definitely be blurry for some people at first BUT make sure to change the monitors in-built sharpness settings, I played around with mine and it looks crystal clear now, I highly recommend it for people whose bank can't afford a 4k monitor and generally just want to have a big monitor.
Edit: also turn on ClearType when possible! I never noticed that it made such a huge difference in some text.

A low-DPI, large, otherwise fairly high-quality display like this one is perfect for those who sit far from their monitors and/or have poorer eyesight. I can think of a few relatives who might be interested in a 27" 1080p display with solid image quality and brightness. I recommended a 20" or 24" to one of them years ago and have been regretting it since the first moment I saw that they had set Windows display scaling to around 200%!

I bought a 27 inch 1080p 165hz monitor ($145 prices are way down) for my nephew to game with and he was unhappy because my wife had lent him her 27 inch 1440p 60hz monitor. I'm afraid this is going to become a learning lesson for him. Either he will learn to sit a meter back from the screen or I will give the monitor away to someone who doesn't have a high refresh IPS 1080p monitor.. Likewise, my niece said she wanted the latest iPhone and I told her she needed a husband who made good money.

1080p at 27inch, text and icon on desktop appears larger. Good desktop experience. For gaming, 1080p still good resolution for high performance gaming 144hz 240hz. Get 27 inch 144hz monitor. Low pixel density, yeah it is true. 27" 1080p around 85ppi. But text and icon appear larger at native resolution. On 4k monitor if you want bigger icons on desktop, you need to trun down resolution to 1080p but with loss of picture clearity. 1080p native 27" is good for both gaming and desktop experience.

That 4mm area difference per pixel is just above a 0.1mm width and height increase. I don't know about you but I pass my opticians test with flying colours every year and I can see both 24" monitor and 27" monitor pixels just as evidently as each other.

I mean a problem with going with a 27'' 1440p display is that if you dont have the graphical power for some games or you cant quite reach your desired framerate means you may have to reduce the resolution to 1080p and thatll look even worse than a natively 1080p monitor

Quite suprised how close you are to yours in this video. i had to custom build my com desk to a depth of 2'6" to accomodate my 27" 1080p. at this range pixels are no problem

I have 2 x AOC 24G2U monitors and I'm very happy with them as I'm happy with 1080p.

So the 24 in would probably be a good buy on this....

It depends on your viewing distance I play farther away from the monitor so it’s harder to see the pixels for me.

If you use the pc with siblings all the time then you need 27" 😀

Why do people debate this when they don’t debate 1440p on 34” monitors? It’s almost the same thing

For 27 inchs 1080p
Right click and go to display settings.
Increase text and apps to 150%
Now enjoy good quality of texts

My eyesight is so bad I'm wondering if my 1440p monitor was a waste of money, not to mention more expensive GPUs I'll have to keep buying.
