How do you protect your mobile phone photos? Whether you have an iPhone or Android phone - you need to back things up. What’s the point of taking great photos with your phone, if you don’t have a backup. There are some great options from #iCloud, #Dropbox, Google Photos, Amazon Photos and #OneDrive. The number one reason why I upgrade my phone - is the camera. Sure, the phones can do tons of other things but I’ll never have the opportunity to take that exact picture again - so I want to capture it at the best quality. But doing what I do now, and having a background with photography and video - I know that one copy of any file is not enough.

Today I’m going to show you 5 ways to back up your photos, to make sure you never lose them!

A quick note: I know that you can manually back up photos to your computer, but I just never remember to do that - so I’ll be focusing on automatic backup options that don’t require any work from you after you set them up.

What's up everyone?! I hope this video helps you secure your photos. Did I cover what you wanted to know? What else did you want to see or learn about.

Would love to know what you think. What backup option do you use with your phone?

Thanks so much for clear and concise round up, could you do similar for home PC system/storage back up options? Specifically for device options, PC vs mac compatibilities . I currently have an old Time Capsule, but I think when is kaput ( and I know that is inevitable ) I would like to replace it with something, but the Time capsule is not available anymore. Thank you immensely.

After an hour online with Apple tech who were unable to fix iCloud's inability to automatically sync photos to my new M1 Macbook Air, and hours trying fixes suggested on forums, I decided on Google Drive for backup and transfers. I love that Drive lets me specify just ONE folder to sync automatically to the cloud. Manual sync plus Airdrop work great for me. It's crazy that Apple hasn't addressed the sync problems.

Thank you for covering the topic. I continue to pay for Flickr but since their automatic update client does not work with the latest MacOS there have been significant time gaps in my backup frequency. I had been considering Google but since watching I will be trying out Amazon Photos as a replacement as I use both Mac & Windows systems.

Great video as always. I would have just mentioned the pros and cons of each service (if any). I personally use Google photos and Amazon photos (back up). I prefer Google photos because it groups the people/pets faces way better than amazon. It also includes location, you can search by item (e.g. cup, paper, beach) or search by event (e.g. wedding). IMO it's far superior to Amazon. I don't know how it compares to the other services mentioned.

Do all the listed options back up at the original full resolution?

Does any of these Services preserve original resolution of the photos?

And here's me hoping it's a new camera review every time!
But seems like manufacturers have stopped producing any cameras for some months now

One thing that wasn’t addressed is whether the photos deleted on your phone are also deleted on the backup. iCloud syncs so deleted photos are also deleted on the backup. Google photos are not. Very important to know.

For photos, i use SMUGMUG. It's the best for backing up your photos. It costs only 55usd a year or 7usd monthly.
