The Balkan Wars were first fought for ethnic groups that were ruled by the Ottoman Empire so they could gain their complete independence and expand their territory. Looking up to the successful western states, Serbia, Bulgaria, Montenegro, and Greece wanted to achieve national states with a territory that would gather all their ethnic brothers into one state.
But the legacy of the Ottoman Empire lives on in the multiethnic hodgepodge of the Balkan Peninsula. Unlike Westerners, the Ottomans considered their faith to be the uniting factor, not the idea of belonging to a nation. This belief created the complex situation in the Balkans that lasts to this day.

from 2:20 to 2:22, you should say "the 19th Century", not "the 20th Century".

A lot of true facts, but there are missing a few big details and that change the tone of the video. One thing f the biggest misses is that after the Russian-ottoman war of 1877 1878 big contingent of f Russian officers have been left in Serbia, Bulgaria and Greece. That was part of the plan of the Russian empire at that time to spread its influence to the new independent balkan states. For confirmation you can look 400km east of the balkan to the Krim wars. (we are still fighting them). After the beginning of second balkan war, Russian empire strongly supported Serbia, withdrawal all supporter exercises t in Serbia. This is also the start of building Ugoslavia.
As you can see this is big discrepancy. And for me, because there is so many of them big and small discrepancies in this video, it is not truly accurate historical reading of the data.

Dobruja should be spelled as Dobrudja or Dobrudza. It is pronounced do-bru-dja. The dj or dz is like in Django. Not dobru-ia. Also Thessaloniki in all Slavic languages is Solun.

How does this connect to WWI? That's what I came to find out. And there was NO suggestion of --it merely a focus on Turkey and the formation of the Turkish state. Important but does not answer the WWI question for the involvement of Austria -Hungary

You also didn't mention that until armies of both Serb states didn't destroy western Turkish army and Serbian First Army didn't come to help Bulgarians at siege of Adianopolis-Jedrene 1. Balkan War wasnt desided

It has nothing to do with nationalism, it has to do with oil and controlling of major ports by the powers.

it's really amazing how none of those otherwise interesting and well-prepared videos involving the Balkans, never ever get the names of local places pronounced correctly...the main reason for that is that the text AI is supposed to read out is in Latin alphabet (no problem so far) BUT that never guarantees you the correct pronunciation, especially the syllable where the stress falls...It is necessary, therefore, for the authors of such videos to first get the pronunciation right by doing some short research, and then feed the AI reader with a spelling which will eventually result in the correct pronunciation...The stress falling on the right syllable, however, is a whole different ballgame, and yet - the most important part of it all...(You can't expect AI to pronounce "Catalca" the right way, yet, there is only one correct pronunciation, but it needs to be heard first, and then fed to the AI the best way possible, for example - Chatalja, Tchataldzha, etc... - you need to experiment, only then the value of the video will explode!)
