Living with Harlequin Ichthyosis (Skin that Grows 10x Too Fast)

preview_player
Показать описание

Anna is diagnosed with harlequin ichthyosis, resulting in skin that grows about 10x faster than what is considered typical. Now 6 years old, she is beginning to notice people staring and doesn't like it. Anna and her family want others to know that if you want to be Anna's friend just come say "hi" and talk to her about some of her favorite things, like unicorns and rainbows.

I thought it was really cool how the mother brought up the "super power" of her skin healing really fast if she gets a cut. Its nice to hear the positives that people may not think about.

Aquaphor company...please send these people a lifetime supply of your ointment for this little girl. Her mom just majorly endorsed you!❤

She was clearly nervous, but so brave for talking to the camera. Thank you Anna for letting us get to know you and your family! ❤

I love that her school bought books for all the classes and they all learned about Anna and mom has to be recognized as well for sending home a letter and picture of Anna I’m sure that helped out so much Anna is a lovely little girl and I have no doubt she will go far in this world

The fact that Anna responds to her brother that she remembers people staring breaks my heart. The world needs more kindness💜

1:15 - Mom's voice and presence was Anna's comfort. She inched as close to her side as possible.

She sounds like she should study Animal Science with the passion she has already at the age of 6! She seems like such a sweet, bright and beautiful girl, and I hope that the world is kind to her as she gets older and maybe they will find some type of cure for her condition ❤

You can’t put anything past Anna…she’s too smart and appropriately outspoken. She is a lovely child, and even with her challenges, she has a wonderful future ahead of her

I'm almost tearing up at her older brother talking about how he loves Anna. You can really hear how tender he is toward her.

They're going to have such a strong bond when they're both adults.

It’s so cute seeing her look at her brother in sudden excitement when he asks what kind of games do they play together 01:45

Gosh I was taught it was rude to stare. Many people just don’t have good manners anymore. Anna is awesome!

The way her school introduced all of the students to her is heartwarming.

I’ve been rocking with YouTube for the last 13 years and I have to confess that this channel stands alone as a platform for one of the most beautiful and empathic content I’ve ever seen.

Thank you for all you do and shining a beautiful light on every amazing person you interview ❤️💯🤘🏻

Edit: just finished the interview and I’d like to add that SHES SUCH A LITTLE ANGEL 🙏🏻❤️

Thank you, @sbsk, for revisiting this rare skin condition with these beautiful people. In my 40s with ichthyosis, drs didn’t know about it, maybe 1 or 2, when I was in high school. What a blessing the way her school embraces her uniqueness and teaches kids about it. Such a difference- I wasn’t allowed to sit out of PE when I got too hot. To say I didn’t sweat was only snickered at. Her spirit is so lovely and I thank you all for this video. 💖
