What if the entirety of British North America rebelled during the American Revolution? (Modern USA, Canada, and Anglo-Caribbean)

had Louis XV been more active enough for this scenario to happen, he wouldn't have reniged on his reforms & the French Revolution would never have happened

Imagine France being the influence to the world instead of England.

If France and its allies won the 7 years wars there would be 2 separate peaces, one with Prussia (deciding the future on the continent), and one with Britain (using Hanover as a bargaining chip to get more colonies for France).

Prussia would be royally screwed, in the east they would probably be reduced to the former borders of Brandenburg + Eastern Pomerania. Poland gets East Prussia, Sweden Western Pomerania, Austria Silesia, and Saxony their western possessions (Cleves, Mark, and Ravensburg) while France is compensated with a Bourbon or Bourbon-allied independent Belgium. If Peter III inherits the throne in time to fuck it up he might ensure that Frederick keeps East Prussia, but that's the best they can hope for.

Britain would have to give up overseas possessions in order to guarantee the return of Hanover. Unlike France with Canada and Louisiana however the 13 colonies aren't an option for Britain. Instead Britain would cede colonies such as Hudson Bay and Nova Scotia and some of the less valuable islands in the Caribbean (Bahamas, Montserrat, etc.) to France, and return any occupied colonies in India.
That would mean France remains a strong power in India, in control of the Northern Circars. From there they would fight a proxy war against Britain, siding with the Mughals to overthrow Mir Jafar and install Mir Qasim in Bengal. If they win Bengal wouldn't be a French puppet, but they would be aligned to the French. Britain might even lose their trade posts in Bengal.

I saw you say in some comment you feared this would result in France just ending up in the same situation eventually as it did historically, but that's unlikely. Britain would be struggling financially for the remainder of the century. They would have less colonies to get money from, and the 13 colonies would still be refusing to pay taxes (even with France still in Canada). Meanwhile France has more money from their colonies, new shipyards in Canada, etc. while their borders in Europe have been mostly secured now.
As a result France would develop a greater focus on its navy, which would be ever more dangerous than it was during the American Revolution historically. France would be in a perfect position to start taking over the world like the British did historically, just delayed by a decade or so.

In our timeline, the French North american colony almost won against the british, even if they were only 60 000 vs 1 500 000 british. They lost the battle of Quebec just because of a very bad strategy. French general Montcalm was not expecting British general Wolfe to climb right off the hill in Quebec city, so the french were beated by a surprise attack. Imagine if Montcalm defended the hill side, his troops would have seen Wolfe and it would have been very easy for the French to defend the hill side and just shoot the british troops while they were climbing.

I would suggest that instead of an English republic (or second Commonwealth), it most likely would have been a second "Glorious Revolution" with Bonnie Prince Charlie installed as Charles III. Unless they could find another branch with a more palatable claim (which is how the House of Hanover got in in the first place.)

Actually the weak link was the loyalty of France's Native American Allies. They did hold good ties between each other true, however the tribes also wished for the status quo to remain the same, i.e. France and England to be on equal footing in power on the continent so that the tribes would have a strong buffer to deter colonial expansion from either one, and to have a stronger say in negations and trade deals. After all, if they didn't like a proposal of one nation, they could always threaten go to see what the other side had to offer. Since the two nations were at odds with each other, they would want the continued support of the Native tribes, and would compete with each other to have them on their side.

Tribal leaders believed that if either side won, then they would have dominance over America, and thus weaken their own positions in future negotiations, which did happen after England won. And so, once they realized that France could become the victor here, many allied tribes had either switched sides or declared neutrality. Then when England got its act together in the later years and went on the offensive against New France, Native tribes let them cross their lands. The French had little defenses in their colonial borders and relied heavily on said tribes to help man the defenses. Without their aid, New France was quickly overrun.

It didn't help that the French colonies weren't as heavily populated as the English ones (a bit over 60, 000 vs over 1.2 million in America), so their reliance in Native tribes makes sense, which made it that much more of a blow to their war efforts when the tribes decided not to help the French anymore.

Quick question mr Z, would you mind putting a few of your sources in the descriptions of your videos? As for a few of these I would love to learn more about the real history behind them.

What if the European powers intervened in the American Civil war and the conflict would turn into a world war with many theatres in Africa, Asia, Europe, Middleast, North America and South America? French intervention in Mexico during the time would be similar to this.
