The first in a series of monthly webinars by the Arms Control Association and the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom featuring key experts and diplomats exploring issues and solutions as the disarmament community prepares for the 10th NPT Review Conference.

As states parties prepare for the delayed 10th Review Conference for the nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty, tensions between the world’s nuclear-armed states remain high, costly upgrades to nuclear arsenals are being pursued, and key treaties that have helped reduce the nuclear danger are under threat.

Speakers included:
- Hans Kristensen, director of the Nuclear Information Project at the Federation of American Scientists, on the “Modernization Plans of the United States, Russia, and China;”
- Zia Mian, co-director of the Princeton Program on Science and Global Security on "The Nuclear Weapons Programs of India and Pakistan;”
- Alicia Sanders-Zakre, policy and research coordinator at the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, on the "The Costs of Nuclear Weapons;" and
- Comments from María Antonieta Jáquez, political coordinator at the permanent mission of México (Correction: the video notes her previous role at the Mexican ministry of foreign affairs) on the previous speakers and on the Joint Communique to Commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the NPT.

Future webinars in the Critical NPT Issues series will address steps to fulfill Article VI of the NPT; how the TPNW complements the NPT; the NPT and the JCPOA; and the future of New START and multilateral disarmament.
