Struggling with Sin? Here's What You Should Do!

#sin #catholic #church #christian #grace #love _________________________________________________________________________
Are you tired of all the confusion in the Catholic Church? So was I! For this reason, I decided to intensely study the Catholic Magisterium in order to discern between what people say about the Catholic Church vs. what it actually says and teaches. If you are a confused Catholic, or are discerning becoming a Catholic, Reason & Theology offers you an in-depth examination of the situation in the Catholic Church that will help make sense of the confusion.

Needed this. Thanks, brother in Christ.

Amen, Michael. There can be a serious temptation to simply give up and give in, but we must stay close to Christ and the sacraments. Thank God for the ordinary means of grace. Keep pressing on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus!

Amen! I used to get so discouraged if I fell into the same sin, yet again. But once I started really believing that God loves me, I realized 1) God is not surprised. He knew I would and still Christ died for me. 2) Jesus was human and sympathizes with me in my weakness though he himself never sinned.

I decided then that if I fall 7 times, I'll get up 8.

Great stuff! "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Totally agree! Back when i calvinist, i indulged in my sins without fear. I felt like god was in control, if i sinned it was because he was trying to teach me a lesson that i wasnt fully justified though saved. If i did good works it was because he was trying to show me i was elect and to relax. The sins were paid for 2000 ago, none of my measley sins were enough to stop a holy and all powerful god from saving me before i could ever comit them. PSA had me thinking every single sin in would ever comit was already covered, understood by god, and already paid for. Almost like an open bar for sin where the sign says "free alcohol please dont drink it." Wasnt until i started deeply accepting catholic doctrines that i cleaned up my life. I realized that sin does damage our relationship with god for sure whereas before i thought nothing could ever come between me and god no matter how hard i tried.

Habitual sin is brutal. Built a bad habit for 32 years until I returned to the Church, so a lot of work ahead but realize I need grace to kill it.

A priest at my parish said in a recent homily, that if you go to him in Confession, the first thing that he asks is if you know how to ski. In skiing, the first thing you learn is how to fall. Satan does not win if you sin, he wins if you don't pick yourself back up.

Thank you for this. There are a few or more strongholds of sins (especially pertaining to lust and "m-wording", to anger, to negativity/complaining, to rash judgements, to impatience, to cussing, and to insulting and name-calling of some others) that I have, though some may of it be due partially to some of the neurological/mental disorders I have. But regardless, I desire to resist and have been resisting and wrangling with them. I have found that the Miraculous Medal, the sacraments, and the invocation of the saints, and I believe the Benedictine medal (combined obviously with faith in and desire to follow Christ) have been causing me to change and to transform, and to be better in repentance. Thank you for this.

Thank you for this video Mr. Lofton! I’ve learned that reading the Bible and praying Marian devotions are also a great remedy for sinful disires. The Rosary is awesome. But just like Saint Thomas Aquinas said, maybe the smallest step of humility to become a saint, is desiring it. And I think in this video you set the standard that struggling and doing our best to be in Communion with Christ is in general the best remedy.

I wish I'm right Michael. But I believe you are genuine in this video. I did not find a place where you are condescending. Hope God gives all of us the grace to live the true authentic integrated Catholic Christian Life. And if possible Fr. Martin's errors be restrained.

I heard exorcist Father Dan Reehil say the Devil loves to do a 180 when you give into his temptation and start mocking you for your weakness—he builds on that foundation to make you give up holiness.

We could just cooperate about the practical matters in order to not have access to the internet or smartphones in the home. But then we'd have to cooperate.
