Starlink is aiming not only to replace your internet service provider, but to also replace the entire internet backbone. It has the potential to skip the toll road set up by the major internet companies and bleed them dry of money on both sides of the transactions. It will be cheaper to maintain, faster to expand and more reliable than what we have today. Starlink can also mess up Amazon AWS, business if the feud between Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk continues.

Great analysis. Much deeper than everybody else. But won’t be the bandwidth too low for densely populated areas?

Just thought of an interesting effect that Starlink may have on the populations of the world. When they begin swallowing up all the land-based ISPs, companies (and people) who require higher-speed internet connections will begin basing themselves in more remote or rural areas to make use of the lack of competition for bandwidth. This will cause a reverse-Manhattanization effect, decentralizing populations and rejuvenating rural communities. It might be a very good time to begin buying up rural properties now while they are cheap.
