Always SIT When You PEE!

Показать описание
“Is it safe to hover over the toilet in public when I have to pee and give a urine sample?!”🤔
Short Answer: NO!❌
If you have to go and their is no where “clean” to sit then I recommend using folded toilet paper or paper towels to COVER the seat!🙌
If you have to give a urine sample, you want to SIT!✅
Here’s why you should SIT not HOVER:⬇️
There is a muscle called the detrusor muscle that contracts to push urine out to the urethra when your brain tells your bladder it’s full and ready to empty! However, you have an internal and external sphincter that wrap around the urethra to prevent urine from LEAKING out when you don’t want/need to PEE!🤯
One of those sphincters is involuntary (meaning you don’t control it) BUT you control the external sphincter! You need both of the sphincters to RELAX for urine to pass!✅
HOWEVER, when you are hovering or doing a partial squat over the seat the pelvic floor muscles are CONTRACTING and ACTIVE to support your pelvic floor SO you have to PUSH or STRAIN your pelvic floor muscles when you stand because the external sphincter can’t relax like it can when you are SEATED on the toilet❌
When you push or strain it causes the pressure in the abdominopelvic area to increase which can WEAKEN the pelvic floor muscles. The muscles can over stretch and lose their ability to support (like a hammock) so you won’t be able to hold in urine, poop, or support your pelvic organs from falling out 😳
You don’t need to push and strain until all the urine is out. It’s normal to have some urine remaining in the bladder after you pee.
If you feel like you have the urge to GO but can’t go or have difficulty emptying naturally then you should see a medical professional! Go see a physical therapist and have them evaluate and treat your symptoms!✅
Find out how The Belly Whisperer Method OR Pregnancy Prep & Postpartum Recovery Online Program to help your pelvic floor for common issues we treat all the time like constipation, urinary urgency/retention/leaking, pelvic pain, and so much more‼️
I wish I would have known about not hovering growing up!But it’s never too late to make healthy changes!🙏
