A lost opportunity to ask the Secretary about the nightmarish national debt ($31 trillion) and if there's reason to worry about it. Also: her opinion of Modern Monetary Theory. Instead, we got a softball interview.

Imagine spending/allocating more money towards the Ukraine war in ten months than Russia’s entire annual defense spending, and then telling Americans that the expanded child tax credit can’t be renewed because we need to control inflation. 🎪

60 min should be held accountable for ridiculous reporting.

Janet Yellen 1-2 years ago made a comment that hit home for me. She said "We want to assist people, so we don't have them suffer the trauma like the people did during the great depression of the 1930's.
My parents were children during the great depression and were always afraid to spend money as they thought they would run out of money. (Even though they had sufficient funds)
We had some pretty thin Christmas's at home when there was no reason for it!!
In the early 1960's my brother's baseball glove was picked out from the town dump as some other person threw it out and was flat as a pancake and very worn out.
What really bugs me is that these economic geniuses forgot their history as they should have been raising interest rates a quarter percentage point (0.25%) every so often.
Now Jerome Powell has to apply the bitter medicine by half a glass full amount (0.75%) instead of by the tablespoon.
I see the reason though as they didn't want to impact Wall Street and keep dancing to the Party music.
Just remember one of the major reasons for the fall of the Roman Empire was INFLATION!
Just placing that thought out there?

Australia isn't in the G7 - Japan is. The EU isn't a member either, since they aren't a country. They are only an observer. The G7 is: US, Canada, France, UK, Germany, Italy & Japan. This is easily looked up - I'm sure Norah O'Donnell has reported on G7 dealings before; but journalistic accuracy isn't important - we're more interested in snappy sounding questions that don't actually address the issue or get to the heart of the matter.

Funny she said there’s no chance of recession a few months ago, and now there’s always a chance. Flip flop, lie lie lie

Notice the body language of everyone who works at the federal reserve being interviewed. Notice they always have this pokerface and always speak robotic.

Anyone take Econ 101? It's a cycle. We had a ton of shocks like the pandemic, Ukraine/Russia War, political upheavals. We've had it good for a long time. With a cycle there will be a downturn. How bad is up to how the world deals with it. As a citizen, you MUST figure out how to reduce costs and how to make your dollar go further. Yes, it's hard. But with gas prices coming down that's a small step.

Does anyone really expect her to be honest? I mean, if things really looked bad do you really think she would tell us the truth?

The oldest people in the US Government are running the youngest country in the world, 60 years should be the limit to be a government official by law.

Yellen doesn't even tell us the real rate of the inflation, it's not 7.7% like they are saying. In the UK it's already 11% and America's inflation according to John Williams Shadowstats that uses the original CPI formula puts it at 18%!
