On May 15, major carriers will give people the ability to text to
911. The problem is many emergency call centers aren't set up to accept texts. CNET's Sumi Das and Jessica Dolcourt examine the issue.

Why do they always put Jessica Dolcourt as if she was being interviewed (when she is a member of CNET?)

what if the 911 call center dedicates a portion of their units specifically for text 911 service. Also it should be regulated who and why the text to 911 service was used. That way the authorities can ensure that only those you need text service use it and those who could have called get penalized for abusing the service.

That is where they should include GPS. Also it depends. Yeah not all situation you can text and its better to call. But small text shouod do the job also. Due to the fact that its a silent message.

Most cases this would be useless although I can see the reason to have it.  What if someone broke into your house and you were hiding in a closet that the suspect was lurking outside of.  To get police on their way you could at least text.

please make it louder.  I could barely hear it.  If I have to use audio hijack to hear your video in a quiet room (because I've already maxed out the volume sliders on my laptop and your video), you're doing it wrong.

This doesn't sound like a helpful idea.
