If you get bounced from your slip, head through the lock into the barge canal to ICW, make an immediate left turn out of the lock into that kayak launch area just north of SR-528. Many boats have weathered previous hurricanes in this area and done well. Many pivot around their anchors year round there too. There are other protected anchorages along barge canal to ICW as well. Liked. Sorry to miss meeting you guys at the show. They will not order you to leave port.
If you've not been through a hurricane before, and there are a few things you should consider.
1. Chafe gear for your lines.
2. Use multiple lines attached to cleats on opposite sides. An example, Port breasting line, use two lines attached to different points on the dock and attach one to the port cleat and one to the starboard cleat. This helps to split the load between the two cleats.
3. Remember that the wind is going to change directions on you. Plan accordingly.
4. Depending on the path of the storm, you may have very high tides, you may have a tide that pulls out behind the storm. Plan to be able to change your dock lines as the water level changes.
5. Make a plan for safe escape. Boats can be replaced. You can't.
6. Chafe gear on your lines.
7. Stay safe!

I hope with it hitting the west coast first by the time it reaches you across the state it will be just a tropical storm, you will have high winds for sure and rain. Sending you prayers. Hopefully, being on the east coast will save you from the worst. You should not have any storm surge, just wind and rain. Also, with the storm having to travel a ways over land some of the sting may be taken out of it. However, be prepared for the worst. Take down the sails, dodger, solar panels, and anything else that may reduce windage. Secure her with as many lines and fenders as you can get. If your between finger docks, try to suspend her in the middle of them. I’m sure you’ve gotten all this advice already. Just trying to be helpful. I’ve been watching you guys for years. Good luck! Hang in there Mads and Ava. You might consider making your way up to Brunswick GA to get out of the storm. Be safe, and find higher ground for you and your car. The storm surge even on the east coast could be 10ft!
