Solving linear equations with fractions - GCSE maths level 6

This video is all about solving a linear equation and forms part of the playlist on equations. I've also added to the playlist on GCSE higher revision.

The question is slightly more complex as there are two fractions to deal with. However, providing you apply the same concept as adding normal fractions - it should be fairly straightforward.

2y over 3 + y-4 over 2 = 5

We're asked to calculate the value of y.

something I didn't understand when you got to the end of the equation. how does 7y-12 over 6 become 7y-12. I thought you had to multiply it by 6? it didn't change.
