Welcome to our video on how to do self myofascial release (SMR) of your neck!

In this video I'm going to show you how to properly use your hand and even a lacrosse ball/massage ball to help release tension in your neck which in turn can help decrease pain, improve range of motion and hopefully help you feel better.

Myofascial release is a form of soft tissue therapy aimed at helping to improve the function of the muscles, tendons and fascia! By applying gentle pressure into these muscles and then taking them through a range of motion you can help eliminate tension.

To start,
-take the pads of your fingers or a ball and apply gentle pressure into a muscle (I like to start at either the top of my neck and work down).

Once you have that pressure:
-pull slight tension down toward your back.
-Hold that pressure and move your neck!
-You can do a few passes then change the position of the hand/ball.

You can also change the direction you move your neck to target different areas for myofascial release.

Try and target different tissues around your neck that are tight and sore. Remember, less is often more when working on different areas in your neck.

This self myofascial release of your neck should be done in regular intervals and can be added to your daily routine for best results... especially if you spend a lot of time sitting at a desk!

I hope this helps you out!
